Ten centres and specialists that teach Integrated Programme students Literature, Geography or History, compared on the subjects each covers, fees turned into an hourly cost, class size, branches and trial terms, plus how humanities work in IP schools from Year 1 to the H1 and H2 choice in Year 5.
Where to start, subject by subject:
IP Literature: A Way With Literature names IP Literature as a course and will set a slot for one school's texts. The Pear Tree is run by a former RI English and Literature teacher and NIE academic.
IP Geography: GeogCafe's Mr Eric Goh was a senior teacher at RI and a subject head at Hwa Chong.
IP History: Herzen Centre for History teaches nothing else and charges S$50 an hour online.
Two or three humanities at one centre: Sophia Education or Happy Tutors.
Literature inside IP English: Hess Academy and Future Academy both teach the school's own texts within English.
No centre paid to be listed here. Very few centres print a class just for IP humanities, so the table says plainly which ones name IP on their own site and which teach the subject at secondary level for IP students to join.

Our own service: a private IP humanities tutor
The box below describes The Singapore Syllabus, which is us. We keep it apart from the ten centres above and give ourselves no rank.
A centre made the list only if its own website showed at least one of Literature, Geography or History at secondary level and gave something a parent can check before calling.
1Teaches the subjectLiterature, Geography or History at secondary level on the centre's own pages, or Literature built into an IP English course.

4A spreadSpecialists and chains, online and in person, west to east.
Eight of the ten also appear on the most-read rival lists for IP Literature, IP Geography and IP History. Eight other names on those lists have no working website that we could find, and we left out several centres that our own Literature, Geography and History guides already cover in depth.

Suits: an IP student who needs help on their own school's texts and is happy to learn over Zoom or Google Meet.
May not suit: a family that wants a fixed group class, because a group only opens if another student reads the same texts, or one that wants a price before calling.
The founder, Ken, holds a first-class NUS degree in Political Science and English Literature and scored Distinctions in H1 GP and H2 Literature at Hwa Chong. The schedule page offers to set a slot for one school's syllabus and level, which matters in IP, where set texts differ by school.
Fees as published: no amounts are printed. Lessons are 2 hours, with no registration or material fee. Group rates are lower than one-to-one, students taking both GP and Literature get a discount, and joining within three months of an exam or booking ad hoc costs more.
Branch: 545 Orchard Road, Far East Shopping Centre #04-36, shared with another learning centre, with limited slots. Most lessons are online. No MRT station is named.

Suits: a family that needs a branch close to home and a set weekly course.
May not suit: a student who wants an IP-only class or a named teacher, as the humanities pages name neither.
The Literature page splits work into lower secondary units on prose, poetry and drama, and upper secondary units that add timed unseen practice. The History page drills source questions on purpose, reliability, utility and cross-referencing, the same habits an IP History task asks for.
Fees as published: the standard Sec 3 to 4 fee for one subject is S$1,428 for a 12-lesson course, or S$119 a lesson. Lesson length, registration and class size are not printed.
Branches: Bukit Timah, Rochester Mall, United Square, Thomson and Alexandra Village (Central), Paya Lebar Quarter, Bedok Mall and Parkway Parade (East), Jurong Point, West Mall and Hillion Mall (West), Seletar Mall, NEX, Woodleigh Mall and Kovan (North-East), and Lentor Modern (North). How humanities run in IP schools
MOE describes the Integrated Programme as a six-year course to the A-Level, the IB Diploma or the NUS High School Diploma.
IP students "do not need to take" the national exam in Sec 4, which from 2027 is the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate. MOE also says each school's programme "is unique and builds on its distinct strengths, culture and ethos". In practice, each IP school sets its own humanities syllabus, papers and subject names from Year 1 to Year 4. For humanities, the first common exam comes at the end of Year 6, at A-Level or in the IB Diploma.
Three schools show how far apart the courses are:

A-Level
What the work looks like
Essays and close reading in Literature. At Temasek JC, Year 3 Literature at the shorter level is Practical Criticism, which is close reading, and Year 4 is Shakespeare. The fuller level adds a module on myths and fairytales in Year 3 and contemporary and world literature in Year 4.
Sources and research in History. Temasek JC says its History course trains students to judge sources critically, sets independent research projects and puts less weight on traditional exams. Raffles Institution describes History through projects and learning journeys.
Fieldwork in Geography. Temasek JC runs fieldwork investigations, for example at East Coast Park, and a Year 2 field trip that draws on History, Geography and Social Studies.
So the same "IP History" label can mean a project report at one school and a source-based test at another. Bring the school's task sheet and rubric to any trial lesson.
Year 4 subject choices
The Year 3 choice decides which humanities your child carries forward. At ACS (Independent), Year 3 and 4 students take History or Geography as one of three options, beside Language Arts and other compulsory subjects. At Temasek JC, every Year 3 student picks one humanities module. The H1 and H2 combination for Year 5 comes next, and our JC subject combination guide explains how H1 and H2 subjects fit together.
The H1 and H2 humanities path in Year 5 and 6
For the A-Level IP schools, humanities become national subjects sat at the end of Year 6. The 2027 syllabus codes from SEAB:

Does the centre also teach H1 or H2 for Year 5?

Common questions
Do IP students need Literature, Geography or History tuition?
Not always. Tuition helps most when a school sets heavy essay or source work in Year 3 and 4, or when a weak humanities grade could limit the Year 5 subject combination.
Which centres name IP Literature on their own site?
A Way With Literature lists IP Literature in English on its fees page, and The Pear Tree lists the Integrated Programme among its levels. Hess Academy and Future Academy teach Literature inside their IP English courses.
Who teaches IP Geography?
GeogCafe offers small groups for IP students, led by a former Raffles Institution senior teacher. Sophia Education, Happy Tutors, The Humanities Clinic and Aspire Hub also teach secondary Geography that IP students can join.
Is IP History the same as O-Level or SEC History?
No. Each IP school writes its own course, and some, like Temasek JC, lean on research projects and source evaluation rather than standard tests. The skills overlap with SEC History, but the tasks and marking differ.
How much does IP humanities tuition cost?
Of the centres that publish enough to work out an hourly cost, Herzen charges S$50 an hour, The Humanities Clinic about S$56.67 and Future Academy S$60.92 to S$66. On our rate card, a one-to-one tutor for Year 3 and 4 costs S$35 to S$95 an hour depending on experience.
What humanities do IP students choose in Year 3 or 4?
It depends on the school. At ACS (Independent) students pick History or Geography among three options, and at Temasek JC every Year 3 student takes one of English Literature, Geography or History beside Singapore Studies.
Which H2 humanities can IP students take in Year 5?
At the A-Level IP schools, the usual options are H2 History (9174), H2 Geography (9173) and H2 Literature in English (9539), with H1 versions and H3 for some students. Each H2 subject is two 3-hour papers.
Can online tuition work for IP Literature or History?
Yes, for essay and source work. Herzen teaches History only online, and A Way With Literature runs most of its Literature lessons over video call.
When should IP humanities tuition start?
Year 3 is a sensible point to review, since that is when the humanities choice and longer essays arrive. Year 1 is early unless your child is already struggling with reading or written arguments.
