Best IP Tuition Centres in Singapore (2027): 10 Compared

Written and reviewed by Theon Teo, Founder · editorial policy

Ten Integrated Programme tuition centres side by side for IP Maths, English, Sciences and Chinese: published fees turned into a per-hour cost, class sizes, branches with the nearest MRT, trial terms and what to ask, plus how IP Years 1 to 4 are assessed.

The best IP tuition centre depends on the subject and the gap. For IP Year 1 and 2 Maths in a small class, look at Eclat Institute (Jurong East, max 8) or Tim Gan Math (Bukit Timah and Tampines, max 10). For IP English essays, Indigo's IP English is led by a former Hwa Chong GP teacher. For IP Higher Chinese, Chen Higher Chinese in Ang Mo Kio is run by a teacher with IP and IB experience. For one centre covering every IP subject, Chinese included, look at Future Academy (classes of up to 6). In the east, Tim Gan Math and Learning For Keeps both have Tampines branches. The lowest published hourly fee is The Chemistry Practice's IP Chemistry, S$80 for a 2-hour lesson.

IP centres quote fees per lesson, per month, per term or per 4 lessons. This guide lists each centre's fee exactly as published, then works out a comparable cost per hour. Every fact was read on the centre's own website on 7 November 2026. Where a fact is not on the centre's site, we write "not published" rather than guess.

How we chose these centres

We searched Google for "ip tuition centre", "integrated programme tuition", "ip maths tuition", "ip year 1 tuition" and "ip english tuition", and noted the centres that rank and those named on other listicles. We then kept centres that pass all four tests below.

  1. Runs a named IP classThe centre has an IP class or IP page for Years 1 to 4, not just a general secondary class.
  2. Publishes its programmeIts website shows at least the fee, the schedule, the class size or the teacher for IP.
  3. Has active branchesIt lists a current address or a 2027 timetable.
  4. Covers the IP subjects and the islandTogether, the 10 cover Maths, English, the Sciences and Chinese, every region, and a range of fees and class sizes.

All facts were checked on 7 November 2026. Fees often change each January, so confirm the current figure before you pay. No centre paid to appear here, and the detail section is in alphabetical order, not a ranking.

The 10 IP tuition centres compared

The per-hour figure is our own estimate. We divided the published fee by the published lesson hours. Where a centre does not publish its fee or lesson length, we could not work it out.

The 10 centres in detail

Chen Higher Chinese

What is distinctive. The centre is run by Ms Chen, who holds a Master of Education (Chinese Language) from NIE, where she topped her cohort, and Double First Class Honours from NTU on the Nanyang Scholarship. Her site lists 13 years of teaching Higher Chinese, Chinese and Chinese Literature at primary, secondary, IB and IP levels, and names an "Integrated Programme Chinese Curriculum" as a specialisation.

Suits: an IP student in the north-east who wants Higher Chinese from one experienced teacher, on site or online. May not suit: a family that wants fees and class size in writing before calling, since neither is published.

Fees as published: Not published. The 2027 schedule is posted as images, and the site says class timings were updated on 7 November 2026 and groups can be joined at any time unless a start date is shown.

Branch: 447 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10, #01-1689. The site does not name the nearest MRT. Students can attend online or in person.

Website: chenhigherchinese.sg

Ask at the trial: Which 2027 class is for IP students, and which IP year? How many students are in it? What does a month cost, and is there a registration fee?

The Chemistry Practice

What is distinctive. IP Year 3 and Year 4 Chemistry are separate courses. Year 3 builds the fundamentals through theory and practical work, and Year 4 moves to more abstract, application-based topics. The syllabus is planned to finish before a revision run-up to the end-of-year exams. The tutor, Mr Kelvin, is described as a former MOE Chemistry Subject Head with more than a decade of experience.

Suits: an IP Year 3 or 4 student who finds Chemistry the hardest science, and a family watching cost. May not suit: an IP Year 1 or 2 student, since only Years 3 and 4 are offered.

Fees as published: S$80 per 2-hour weekly lesson, collected each term and pro-rated for mid-term joiners. Extra lessons are added close to the end-of-year exams. A trial lesson at no charge is offered on site or over Zoom. A registration fee is not published.

Branches: 420 North Bridge Road #05-09, North Bridge Centre (Bugis MRT). 767 Upper Serangoon Road #02-12, Spazio@Kovan (Kovan MRT).

Website: thechemistrypractice.sg

Ask at the trial: Is the 2027 Year 3 schedule out yet? How many students are in this slot? Are the extra exam lessons charged separately?

Eclat Institute

What is distinctive. Eclat teaches only IP and JC theory classes, plus science practicals. Lower Secondary IP Maths starts from the topics taught in school, asks students to show every step of algebra, and revisits older skills before assessments. Upper Secondary IP Chemistry covers calculations and explanations, with practical work such as titration and qualitative analysis. Practicals run at a separate lab on Henderson Road.

Suits: a west-side IP student who wants a class of 8 or fewer, or who needs practical skills for school assessments. May not suit: a student who wants 2-hour lessons, since theory lessons are 1.5 hours.

Fees as published: S$360 a month for an October to February start, S$380 for March to June and S$400 for July to September, each for 4 weekly 1.5-hour lessons. Continuing students pay S$360 a month the next year. New-student fees change on 1 March 2027. Registration, deposit and trial terms are not published. A missed lesson is not refunded unless the centre is told at least 48 hours ahead.

Branch: 2 Venture Drive, #16-07 Vision Exchange (Jurong East MRT). Theory lessons run Monday to Thursday 4pm to 9pm and weekends 9am to 6pm.

Website: eclatinstitute.sg

Ask at the trial: Is a trial lesson offered, and what does it cost? Are classes grouped by IP school? Which practical sessions match my child's school tests?

What IP students actually face in Years 1 to 4

The Integrated Programme is a 6-year course. Students skip the national exam at Secondary 4 and sit the A-Level, the IB Diploma or the NUS High School Diploma at the end of Year 6, depending on the school. From 2027 the national Sec 4 exam is the SEC, which replaces the O-Level, and MOE states that IP students "do not need to take" it. Our guide to the IP versus the O-Level pathway covers the trade-offs, and our list of IP schools shows which school leads to which qualification.

What this means for tuition:

  • No common syllabus. MOE says each IP school's programme is unique. At ACS(I), Years 3 and 4 students take 8 subjects, including Core Mathematics and at least one Science, with Advanced Mathematics as an option. RGS assesses through continual assessment, including tests, performance tasks, portfolios, oral presentations and projects. A centre that teaches from a generic textbook may cover topics in a different order from the school.
  • School-based assessment carries the weight. With no national exam until Year 6, each term's school tests decide promotion. Ask the school for its promotion criteria and the subjects that count.
  • Mother Tongue is the exception. Temasek JC, for example, reports the results of its IP4 cohorts in the national Mother Tongue and Higher Mother Tongue papers. Our Higher Mother Tongue guide explains how that grade counts.
  • Leaving the IP is possible but discouraged. MOE strongly discourages transfers, and moves to another IP school are not allowed except in exceptional circumstances. SEC-track students who do well can apply to join the IP at Secondary 3.

For subject help built around your child's school, see our IP tuition page and our IP Maths tuition page.

Centre, home tutor or online?

The lowest hourly cost is usually a group class. The most closely matched hour is one-to-one, because the tutor can work from your child's own IP school worksheets. Our rate card prices IP Years 1 and 2 at our Sec 1 to 2 rates, and IP Years 3 and 4 at our Sec 3 to 4 rates. Full rates are on our pricing page.

A worked example: an IP Year 3 student at Tim Gan Math pays S$90 for a 2-hour lesson each week, or S$900 for the 10 lessons in Term 1. A weekly 1.5-hour lesson with a full-time tutor at S$45 to S$65 an hour costs S$67.50 to S$97.50 a week. Many families keep a weekly centre class and add a few one-to-one lessons before the school's end-of-year exams.

How to choose an IP tuition centre

  1. Start from the school's reportFind the subject and the skill that cost marks: algebra, essay structure, a science practical, Chinese composition. Pick a centre that teaches that subject as an IP class.
  2. Check the syllabus matchAsk whether the class is grouped by IP school or follows a general secondary syllabus. Bring your child's school topic list.
  3. Compare cost per hourTurn each quote into a cost per hour and add registration, deposit, materials and GST. Our table does this for the published fees.
  4. Ask the actual class sizeAsk how many students are in the slot your child would join, not the centre's average.
  5. Book one trialTrials range from no charge to the full lesson fee. Ask the cost and what happens if you do not continue.
  6. Review after one termCompare the next school test with the last. If nothing has moved after a term, ask the centre for a plan or switch.

Trial-lesson checklist

  • Is this class only for IP students, and for which IP schools?
  • Who teaches the class all year, and who covers when they are away?
  • How many students are in this exact slot?
  • Will the teacher look at my child's school worksheets and test dates?
  • How are questions handled between lessons?
  • What does a missed lesson cost, and is there a recording or a replacement class?
  • What notice is needed to stop, and when is any deposit refunded?

A one-to-one option: The Singapore Syllabus

This box is about our own service. It is not one of the centres compared above, and we did not rank ourselves.

Common questions

How much does IP tuition at a centre cost in Singapore?

Among the centres we checked on 7 November 2026 that publish fees, IP group classes cost S$320 to S$528 for four lessons, or about S$40 to S$67 an hour. Registration fees, deposits and GST can add to that.

What is the best IP tuition centre in Singapore?

There is no single best centre, because IP subjects and schools differ. Eclat Institute and Tim Gan Math focus on IP Maths, Indigo on IP English, Chen Higher Chinese on Higher Chinese, and Future Academy covers every IP subject.

Do IP students need tuition if there is no O-Level or SEC?

Not always. IP students skip the national Sec 4 exam, but school tests in Years 1 to 4 decide promotion to Year 5, so tuition usually targets one subject that is slipping.

Which IP tuition centres have the smallest classes?

Future Academy and Learning For Keeps publish a maximum of 6, Eclat Institute a maximum of 8 and Tim Gan Math a maximum of 10 on site. Orion states an average of 8 and The Chemistry Practice usually 8 to 12.

Is there IP Year 1 tuition at a centre?

Yes. Eclat Institute, Tim Gan Math, Future Academy and Zenith all run classes for IP Year 1 and 2. Orion offers one-to-one coaching instead of a group class at those levels.

Do IP tuition centres follow my child's school syllabus?

Some do. Tim Gan Math asks for the school's topics and test dates, and Future Academy, Indigo and Zenith group students by school where possible. Ask any centre which IP schools its class is built for.

Do IP tuition centres offer trial lessons?

Most do. The Chemistry Practice, Indigo and Zenith offer a trial at no charge, Tim Gan Math and The Physics Cafe charge for one lesson, and Orion waives the first lesson's fee from November to March if you do not continue.

Where can I find IP Higher Chinese tuition?

Chen Higher Chinese in Ang Mo Kio lists an IP Chinese curriculum, and Future Academy runs IP Chinese and Higher Chinese at Bugis and Bukit Timah. Some IP schools enter Year 4 students for the national Mother Tongue paper, so ask the school which paper your child sits.

Is one-to-one tuition better than a centre for IP?

One-to-one can follow one school's syllabus and one student's gaps. It costs S$30 to S$95 an hour on our rate card for IP Years 1 to 4, compared with about S$40 to S$67 at the centres above that publish fees.

Are these centres paid to be listed?

No. We chose them by the criteria above and took every fact from each centre's own website on 7 November 2026.
