How tutors are tiered
- Undergraduate tutors — typically NUS, NTU, SMU, or polytechnic students with strong A-Level / IB backgrounds in the subject. Best fit for lower-primary / lower-secondary foundation work, or non-exam-year coaching. Lower hourly rate, often more available evening / weekend slots.
- Full-time specialist tutors — career tutors with 5+ years of teaching the syllabus. Familiar with the SEAB marking schemes and prelim paper styles of the major schools. Most exam-year (P6, Sec 4, JC2) bookings sit at this tier.
- Ex-MOE / NIE-trained tutors — former MOE classroom teachers and Heads of Department, NIE-trained, often with marking experience. Highest tier; matches concentrate around exam-year intensives and harder subjects (H2 Math, H2 Chemistry, IB HL).
Worked example — monthly tuition cost
One 1.5-hour lesson per week × ~4.3 weeks per month. Mid-band hourly rate from each tier shown. Use as a planning estimate; final cost is your tutor's agreed hourly rate × time taught.

Two lessons per week roughly doubles the figure. Many exam-year families step up to 2 sessions/week from January (P6 / Sec 4) or June (JC2). Travel time is not charged separately for in-home lessons within Singapore.
Pricing FAQ
How are Singapore home tuition rates determined?▼
Three factors: level (Primary, Secondary, JC, IB), tutor tier (undergrad, full-time specialist, ex-MOE / NIE-trained), and lesson frequency. Travel time and lesson length play minor roles. The same tutor will charge similar rates across most agencies — there is no haggling premium for working through us.
Why is there a range, not a fixed price?▼
Tutors set their own rates within market norms. A first-year NUS undergraduate teaching P5 Math charges less than a 15-year ex-MOE Math HOD. We surface the range so parents know the expected band before booking; the final rate is set on the tutor match.
Are there any hidden agency fees?▼
No. We do not charge parents an agency fee. The tutor pays a one-time placement commission to us when the match is confirmed. Parents pay the tutor directly at the agreed hourly rate from lesson 1 onwards.
What is the free trial lesson?▼
The first 30–60 minutes with the matched tutor is free. If the fit isn't right, we re-match free of charge. Most parents continue with the matched tutor after the trial.
How quickly can lessons start?▼
Non-urgent matches: 3–7 days. Exam-period urgent matches (8 weeks before PSLE / O-Level / A-Level / IB): tutor matched within 48 hours, lessons starting within 5–7 days.
Do these rates apply to online lessons?▼
Yes. We charge the same rate for online (Zoom / Google Meet) and in-home lessons. Online suits concept-coaching and review; in-home is preferred for past-paper drilling at upper-Sec / JC levels where the tutor needs to mark on the same physical paper.
