Quick answer
Yes. Primary 6 pupils sit the PSLE in 2027. Nothing MOE or SEAB had published by 26 October 2026 removes the PSLE or makes it optional. SEAB has not published the 2027 PSLE timetable yet. In 2026 the orals were on 12 and 13 August, listening comprehension on 15 September and the written papers from 24 to 30 September, with results due on 24 to 25 November 2026 (tentative).
- PSLE 2027 timetable: not published yet (checked 26 October 2026).
- The PSLE is not removed or optional in 2027.
- MOE is reviewing the use of the PSLE for Secondary 1 posting in its Education Conversations. No decision has been announced.
- 2027 school year for primary schools: 4 January to 19 November.
Is the PSLE being removed or made optional in 2027?
No change has been announced. In May 2026, MOE launched the Education Conversations, which run through 2026 and into 2027. One of the topics is moderating examination stakes, such as the use of the PSLE for Secondary 1 posting. That is a public consultation, not a decision, and MOE has not said that the 2027 PSLE will be different.
MOE and SEAB still list the PSLE as a national examination. Secondary 1 posting under Full Subject-Based Banding uses three Posting Groups, and MOE has announced no change to this for the 2027 cohort.

Other primary school changes in 2027
From 2027, the Gifted Education Programme in its current form ends, starting with the 2024 Primary 1 cohort, who are in Primary 4 in 2027. These pupils no longer move to one of the nine GEP schools. MOE instead provides school-based programmes and after-school modules. This does not change the PSLE.
