IP Schools in Singapore 2027: All 17, Their PSLE Ranges and How to Get In

Written by Stella Sow · Reviewed by Theon Teo, Founder · editorial policy

Singapore has 17 Integrated Programme schools. Thirteen lead to the A-Level, three to the IB Diploma and one to the NUS High Diploma. The 2025 PSLE ranges for each, and the posting rules most guides leave out.

Singapore has 17 Integrated Programme (IP) schools in 2027. The IP is a six-year course that skips the Secondary 4 national exam, the SEC from 2027, and leads straight to the A-Level, the IB Diploma or the NUS High School Diploma. Thirteen schools lead to the A-Level, three to the IB Diploma and one to the NUS High Diploma. In the 2025 Secondary 1 posting, the last student admitted to an IP had a PSLE Score between 6 and 9, depending on the school. About a third of IP places are filled earlier through Direct School Admission.

Where each school leads in Years 5 and 6

Nine schools keep their students for all six years. The other eight hand them over to a partner for the last two years, which matters if your child has a strong preference for a particular junior college.

The 2025 PSLE ranges for IP admission

Each bar runs from the PSLE Score of the first student to that of the last student posted to the school's IP in the 2025 posting, for Secondary 1 in 2026. A lower score is better. The second number is the one people call the cut-off point.

Source: MOE SchoolFinder, read 26 October 2026. NUS High does not take part in posting and admits all students through DSA. At SAP schools the last student also had a Merit in Higher Chinese. Nanyang Girls' High was 4 to 6 for non-affiliated students and 4 to 8 for affiliated students.

MOE notes that cut-off points can move by a few points from year to year, and that a student who met the cut-off may still miss out on a tie-breaker. Every 2025 IP range ended at 9 or better, well inside Posting Group 3, which covers PSLE Scores of 4 to 20.

How S1 posting works at a school with two tracks

At the eight dual-track schools, the IP and the SEC track have separate school codes and count as separate choices among your six. Three rules decide how to list them.

Rules for dual-track schools

  • PostingTwo separate choicesList the IP and the SEC track separately, in the order you prefer them.
  • PostingIP only means IP onlyIf you list only the IP, your child is not considered for the SEC track at that school, and the reverse is also true.
  • AffiliationAffiliation counts for the SEC track onlyAffiliation priority applies to the SEC choice, not the IP. Nanyang Girls' High, an IP-only school, is the one IP with a separate affiliated range.
  • PostingTiesIf two children have the same score for the last place, citizenship decides first, then choice order, then a ballot.

So a family with a child affiliated to Catholic High and a score near the IP cut-off has a real choice of order. MOE's own worked example: list the SEC track first and the IP second, and affiliation helps only the first choice. List the IP first and the SEC track second, and affiliation helps only the second.

The two ways in, on one calendar

For a child in Primary 6 in 2026, both routes ran to these dates. The 2027 DSA dates, for Secondary 1 in 2028, are not out yet but usually follow the same months.

  1. 6 May to 2 Jun 2026DSA applicationsUp to 3 schools, by talent area. Free to apply.
  2. By 28 Aug 2026DSA outcomes from schoolsOffers, wait-list places or no offer.
  3. 19 to 23 Oct 2026DSA school preferencesRank the schools that made an offer.
  4. 24 or 25 Nov 2026PSLE results and DSA allocationA DSA place must be honoured, and that child does not join S1 posting.
  5. 7 days from resultsS1 choicesSix choices, with the IP and SEC tracks counted separately at dual-track schools.
  6. 18 Dec 2026S1 posting resultsBy the S1 Portal and SMS.

IP schools use DSA more than other schools. Our DSA guide covers how talent areas and offers work. The talent areas differ a lot: Raffles Institution listed 25 for its IP in 2026, while NUS High accepts only Mathematics and Science and tests both in one selection.

Schools that are often mistaken for IP schools

Specialised independent schools

  • IP schoolNUS High SchoolSix years to the NUS High School Diploma, with a graded research project. All students enter through DSA in Mathematics or Science.
  • Not listed as IPSchool of the ArtsOffers the IB Diploma, but MOE's SchoolFinder does not class it as an IP school. Families apply to the school directly.
  • Not listed as IPSingapore Sports SchoolOffers the SEC and the IB Diploma, plus diplomas with polytechnic partners. Its own admission process, outside DSA and posting.
  • Not an IP schoolSchool of Science and TechnologySEC, plus a through-train diploma programme with Ngee Ann Polytechnic for selected Sec 3 students.

Joining later, or leaving

A student on the SEC track who does well can apply to join an IP in Secondary 3. Schools run their own exercises. Catholic High, for example, took applications from Secondary 2 boys from 7 September to 2 October 2026, with interviews later in October. An offer commits the student to Years 3 and 4 there and Years 5 and 6 at Eunoia JC.

Leaving works the other way. MOE told Parliament in 2022 that around 200 students a year, about 5% of each cohort, left the IP before finishing Year 4. Most moved to the national exam track, which from 2027 means the SEC, and many of the rest moved overseas. At a dual-track school a student can usually stay in the same school. Moving to a different IP school is not allowed except in exceptional circumstances.

Whether the IP suits your child at all is a separate question from whether they can get in. Our IP or O-Level pathway guide weighs the two routes.

Common questions

How many IP schools are there in Singapore?

Seventeen. Thirteen lead to the A-Level, three to the IB Diploma (ACS Independent, Methodist Girls' and St. Joseph's Institution) and one, NUS High School, to the NUS High School Diploma.

What PSLE Score do you need for an IP school?

In the 2025 posting, the last student admitted to an IP had a score between 6 and 9, depending on the school. Cut-off points move by a few points each year.

Can my child choose both the IP and the SEC track at the same school?

Yes, at the eight dual-track schools. They are separate choices, ranked in your order of preference. Choosing only the IP means the child is not considered for that school's SEC track.

Does affiliation help for the IP?

Not at the dual-track schools, where affiliation applies only to the SEC track. Nanyang Girls' High, an IP-only school, has a separate affiliated range.

How many IP places go through DSA?

MOE says IP schools generally fill about 30% to 35% of their Secondary 1 IP places through DSA. The share varies by school and year.

Do IP students take the SEC in Secondary 4?

No. IP students go straight from Year 4 to Year 5 without a national exam.

Is the School of the Arts an IP school?

MOE says it offers the IB Diploma, but SchoolFinder does not list it as an IP school, and it admits students through its own application.

Can a student leave the IP?

Yes. About 5% of each cohort leave before Year 4, mostly for the SEC track. Moving to another IP school is not allowed except in exceptional circumstances.
