Best Combined Science Tuition Centres in Singapore (2027): 10 Compared

Written and reviewed by Theon Teo, Founder · editorial policy

Ten combined science tuition centres in Singapore side by side for Sec 3 and Sec 4 Physics/Chemistry, Chemistry/Biology and Physics/Biology: published fees turned into a per-hour cost, class sizes, branches with the nearest MRT, trial terms and the questions to ask at a trial.

The best combined science tuition centre depends on which pair your child takes and how they learn. For every combination including Biology, in groups of 3 to 6, look at Ancourage Academy (Bishan, Woodlands). For the lowest published fee and one teacher for both Physics and Chemistry, look at AO Studies near Bugis, at about S$40 an hour. For the most branches with a published fee, Overmugged has 7 centres at S$90 to S$95 a lesson. For the practical paper, Concept First runs a physics lab (Clementi, Marine Parade), and Achievers Dream (Bukit Timah, Lorong Chuan, Kembangan) and Uptas (Bedok, Thomson) give each student their own chemistry apparatus. In the north-east, New Dawn Learning Studio in Ang Mo Kio publishes its full 2027 fee table.

Combined Science is one subject made of two half-sciences, and centres teach it in different ways. Some run one class for the pair, some teach only one half, and fees are quoted per lesson, per 4 lessons, per 10 lessons or not at all. This guide lists each fee exactly as published and then works out a comparable cost per hour. Every fact was read on the centre's own website on 8 November 2026. Where a fact is not on the centre's site, we say "not published" rather than guess.

How we chose these centres

We searched Google for "combined science tuition singapore", "combined science tuition centre", "physics chemistry combined science tuition" and "sec 3 science tuition". We noted the centres that rank and the ones named by other top lists, then kept the centres that pass all four tests below.

  1. Teaches Combined Science by nameThe centre has a Combined Science page, Combined Science classes on its timetable, or Combined Science on its enquiry form, for Sec 3, Sec 4 or both.
  2. Publishes its programmeIts website shows at least the fee, the timetable, the class size or the named teacher.
  3. Runs active branchesIt lists a current address, and most show a 2027 timetable or 2027 registration.
  4. Spread of area, price and pairTogether, the 10 cover every region, all three combinations, one-teacher centres and multi-branch centres, and a range of fees.

All facts were checked on 8 November 2026. Fees often change each January, so confirm the current figure before you pay. No centre paid to appear here, and the detail section is in alphabetical order, not a ranking. Some centres also appear in our chemistry, physics and science round-ups. Here we look only at their Combined Science classes.

The 10 combined science tuition centres compared

The per-hour figure is our own estimate. We divided the published fee by the published lesson hours. Where a centre does not publish its fee or lesson length, we could not work it out.

The 10 centres in detail

Achievers Dream

What is distinctive. A chemistry specialist with its own chemistry laboratory at 5 Jalan Bingka, which holds an NEA hazardous substances permit. Each student has their own apparatus. Its 2027 timetables list mixed Pure/Combined Chemistry classes for Sec 3 and separate Combined Chemistry classes for Sec 4 at all three branches. The monthly lab lessons from August to October are reserved for Combined Chemistry students, which lines up with the run-up to the practical.

Suits: a Physics/Chemistry or Chemistry/Biology student whose weaker half is Chemistry, especially the practical. May not suit: a student who wants both halves at one centre, since only Chemistry is taught at secondary level.

Fees as published: S$460 for 5 lessons for Sec 3 and Sec 4, made up of 4 two-hour theory lessons and 1 monthly masterclass on Zoom, with GST included. On top of this are materials and printing fees of S$131, a S$55 registration fee and a deposit of 2 lesson fees, used for the last two lessons. Sec 4 lab lessons cost S$164 each (S$492 for 3), plus S$55 for chemical consumables per lab lesson and a S$109 lab registration fee that current students do not pay. The price list says lab lessons come at no extra charge if tuition is paid termly for Terms 1 and 2. Trial terms and class size are not published.

Branches: 9 Jalan Bingka, Bukit Timah (HQ). 151 Lorong Chuan #01-16. 19 Jalan Masjid, Kembangan. The nearest MRT is not published. Lorong Chuan and Kembangan MRT stations are close to the branches of the same name, by our reading of the addresses.

Website: achieversdream.com.sg

Ask at the trial: Is the Sec 3 class mixed with Pure Chemistry students, and how is that handled? How many students are in the class? How often is the materials fee charged?

Ancourage Academy

What is distinctive. Ancourage runs a separate course for every pair and level: Physics/Chemistry, Physics/Biology and Chemistry/Biology, at G3 and G2, for Sec 3 and Sec 4. One class covers both halves of the pair. Each course page sets out the SEC paper format for its exact syllabus, K326, K327 or K328, and lessons are 2 hours a week in groups of 3 to 6. Parents can message teachers on WhatsApp between lessons.

Suits: a student taking Biology as one half, or a G2 student, who wants a very small group in the north or centre. May not suit: a family that wants to compare fees before calling, since fees are quoted on request.

Fees as published: Not published. The pricing page says fees depend on level, subject and class type, with no registration, material or admin fees. Fees are paid in advance in packages of 4, 12 or 24 lessons. The trial is S$18 as standard.

What the Combined Science exam actually tests

From 2027, secondary students in Full Subject-Based Banding sit the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC). At G3, Combined Science comes in three pairs, and each replaces an O-Level syllabus: K326 Science (Physics, Chemistry) replaces 5086, K327 Science (Physics, Biology) replaces 5087, and K328 Science (Chemistry, Biology) replaces 5088. At G2 the codes are K223, K224 and K225. Our SEC syllabus codes guide lists the rest.

PaperWhat it isTime and marksWeighting
Paper 140 multiple-choice questions, about equal on the two sciences1 h, 40 marks20%
Paper 2Physics: Section A 55 marks, Section B one of two 10-mark questions1 h 15 min, 65 marks32.5%
Paper 3Chemistry, same structure1 h 15 min, 65 marks32.5%
Paper 4Biology, same structure1 h 15 min, 65 marks32.5%
Paper 5Practical, one or two questions on each science1 h 30 min, 30 marks15%

Every candidate sits Paper 1, Paper 5 and the two science papers for their pair: K326 takes Papers 2 and 3, K327 takes Papers 2 and 4, and K328 takes Papers 3 and 4. The pair adds up to one subject and one grade, out of 200 marks. Our O-Level Physics, O-Level Chemistry and O-Level Biology tuition pages cover the topics in more depth.

Combined Science and the path to JC or poly

Combined Science does not close the JC door. Nanyang Junior College, for example, lists "O-Level Chemistry or Science (Chemistry)" as assumed knowledge for H2 Chemistry, and the same pattern for H2 Physics and H2 Biology. Pure Sciences cover more topics, for example 20 Physics topics in K323 against 16 in the Physics half, so ask the JC how it supports students from Combined Science. For poly, MOE's CourseFinder lists Science (Physics, Chemistry), Science (Physics, Biology) and Science (Chemistry, Biology) beside Physics, Chemistry and Biology as a relevant subject, at grade 1 to 6, for the Chemical Engineering diploma with course code T33. Check each course, since requirements differ. Our Combined Science guide, L1R5 guide and JC or poly guide cover this in more detail. Our Combined Science tuition page explains how we support each pair.

Best forA student who keeps up and wants structure and peersA student who is behind in one half, anxious, or aiming for an A from a B

A worked example: a Sec 4 Physics/Chemistry student at AO Studies takes two 2-hour classes at S$320 per 4 lessons each, which is S$640 every 4 weeks, or S$160 a week for 4 hours. At New Dawn, a Sec 4 lesson in each half costs S$190 a week for 3 hours. One 1.5-hour lesson a week with a full-time tutor at S$45 to S$65 an hour costs S$67.50 to S$97.50 a week and can split time between the two halves. Many families use a centre for the weaker half and add a few one-to-one sessions before prelims.

Online classes suit older students who will ask questions on screen. Ancourage, The Physics Cafe and Uptas offer live online lessons. Practical work is harder to coach online.

How to choose a combined science tuition centre

  1. Confirm the exact pair and levelK326 (Physics, Chemistry), K327 (Physics, Biology) or K328 (Chemistry, Biology), at G3 or G2. Only some centres teach Biology.
  2. Find the weaker halfLook at the last school test paper by paper. If one half is pulling the grade down, a single-subject class for that half may be enough.
  3. Check how the class is builtOne class for the pair, or a separate class for each half. Two classes means two fees.
  4. Compare cost per hourTurn every quote into a cost per hour, and add registration, deposit, materials and GST. Our table does this for published fees.
  5. Book one trialTrials range from no charge to a full lesson fee. Ask what it costs before you book.
  6. Review after a monthCompare the next school test with the last. If nothing has changed after about 6 to 8 lessons, ask the centre for a plan or switch.

Trial-lesson checklist

  • Is this class for my child's exact pair, or a mixed or pure science class?
  • Are the notes written for K326, K327 or K328 in 2027, not the older syllabuses?
  • How many students are in this exact slot?
  • Who teaches each half, and do they stay all year?
  • Is the 15% practical taught, and with real apparatus?
  • Are Paper 1 multiple-choice questions practised across both sciences?
  • What does a missed lesson cost, and is there a make-up class?
  • What notice is needed to stop, and is any deposit refunded?

Common questions

How much does combined science tuition cost at a centre in Singapore?

Among the centres that publish fees, a Sec 3 or Sec 4 lesson costs S$80 to S$95, or S$320 for 4 lessons, as checked on 8 November 2026. That works out to roughly S$39 to S$63 an hour, before registration, deposit or GST, and a centre that teaches each half separately charges for two classes.

What is the best combined science tuition centre in Singapore?

There is no single best centre. Ancourage Academy stands out for covering all three pairs in groups of 3 to 6, AO Studies for the lowest published fee, Overmugged for the most branches, and Concept First and Uptas for the practical paper.

Which centres teach Combined Science with Biology?

Ancourage Academy runs Physics/Biology and Chemistry/Biology classes at G3 and G2. SmartLab teaches Combined Biology alongside Chemistry and Physics, and Overmugged lists Chemistry/Biology tutors.

Is Combined Science easier than Pure Science?

It covers less content in each science, with 16 Physics topics instead of 20, but the student must handle two sciences in one grade. About half the theory marks still test handling information and solving problems.

Can my child go to JC with Combined Science?

Yes. Nanyang Junior College, for example, accepts Science (Chemistry), Science (Physics) or Science (Biology) as assumed knowledge for the matching H2 subject. Pure Sciences cover more topics, so ask the JC how it supports students coming from Combined Science.

Does Combined Science count for poly courses?

Yes, for many courses. MOE's CourseFinder lists the three Combined Science pairs beside Physics, Chemistry and Biology as a relevant subject for some science diplomas, so check each course's own requirements.

What are the Combined Science papers from 2027?

Four papers: 40 multiple-choice questions (20%), two 65-mark science papers of 1 hour 15 minutes each (32.5% each) and a 1.5-hour practical (15%). The codes are K326, K327 and K328 at G3.

Which centres have the smallest Combined Science classes?

Ancourage Academy states 3 to 6 students and SmartLab states a maximum of six for its customised classes. AO Studies caps classes at 14, and Uptas gives an average of 15.

Should my child take one class for both halves or one class per half?

One class for the pair suits a student who is even across both sciences. A class for one half suits a student whose grade is pulled down by one science, and it costs less than two classes.

Are these centres paid to be listed?

No. We chose them by the criteria above and took every fact from each centre's own website on 8 November 2026.
