Best H2 Physics Tuition in Singapore (2027): 10 JC Centres Compared

Written and reviewed by Theon Teo, Founder · editorial policy

Ten JC H2 Physics tuition centres side by side: published fees turned into a cost per hour, class sizes, branches with the nearest MRT, trial terms and what to ask, plus what the 9478 exam and its Paper 4 practical test.

The best H2 Physics tuition centre depends on what your child needs. For a former MOE JC lecturer and NIE lecturer who teaches every class, look at Best Physics Tuition (Bukit Timah, Bishan and Thomson). For a strong student who may take H3 Physics, Physics.com.sg in Bishan runs H2 and H3 classes and holds a student's fee until JC2. For the smallest published groups, Ancourage Academy teaches 3 to 6 students in Bishan and Woodlands, and Super Physics in Punggol caps self-formed groups at 3 or 4. For Paper 4 practical work in the west, Eclat Institute caps classes at 8 in Jurong East and runs its own practical lab sessions. The lowest published hourly fee is Pivot Physics at S$100 for a 2-hour JC1 class, about S$50 an hour.

This guide lists each centre's fees exactly as published, then works out a comparable cost per hour, because centres quote per lesson, per month or per four lessons. Every fact was read on the centre's own website on 8 November 2026. If a fact is not on the centre's site, we say "not published" rather than guess. This list covers JC H2 Physics only. For O-Level, SEC and IP Physics centres, see our physics tuition centres guide.

How we chose these centres

We searched Google for "h2 physics tuition singapore", "a level physics tuition", "jc physics tuition centre" and "best h2 physics tuition", and noted the centres that rank and the ones other top lists name. We then kept centres that meet the tests below.

  1. Teaches JC H2 Physics as a named classThe centre runs JC1 or JC2 H2 Physics as its own programme. We favoured physics or JC specialists over general centres.
  2. Publishes its programmeIts website shows the fee, the timetable, the teacher or the class format for H2 Physics.
  3. Runs active branchesIt lists a current address, a 2026 or 2027 timetable, or both.
  4. Spread of area, price and styleTogether the 10 cover every region, very small and large classes, a one-tutor studio and large networks, and a range of fees.

Two exceptions to the second test: SmartLab and Learners' Lodge list their JC Physics classes and branches but not their fees. We kept them because they add north, north-east and east branches, and each entry marks what is not published.

All facts were checked on 8 November 2026. Fees often change in January, so confirm the current figure before you pay. No centre paid to appear here. The detail section is in alphabetical order, not a ranking.

The 10 H2 Physics tuition centres compared

The per-hour figure is our own estimate. We divided the published fee by the published lesson hours. Where a centre does not publish its fee or lesson length, we could not work it out.

Super Physics

What is distinctive. Mr Brandon Ang, an NUS Physics graduate, is the sole tutor and has taught A-Level and IB physics for 11 years. Students form their own small group from the same school, so the lessons can follow that school's test dates. One-to-one lessons are also offered, on site or online. The centre states that 80% of its students achieved a distinction.

Suits: a student in the north-east with two or three schoolmates who want a private group, or one who wants one-to-one lessons with a specialist. May not suit: a student who wants to join an existing class alone, since groups are self-organised.

Fees as published: S$100 an hour for an A-Level group and S$130 an hour for one-to-one, on site or online. Fees are prepaid at the first lesson of each month and scale with the number of lessons. There is no deposit, registration or material fee. The home page says groups are limited to 3, while the class schedule and FAQ pages say 4, so ask. Trial terms are not published.

Branch: Blk 433B Northshore Drive, about five minutes' walk from Punggol Coast MRT.

A deposit of S$400 per subject is refunded in the final month, and withdrawal needs a month's notice. There are no material or registration fees. A trial class is offered at no charge, with terms not published.

Branches: Bishan, Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah, Buona Vista, Jurong East, Jurong Point, King Albert Park, Kovan, Marymount/Upper Thomson, Paya Lebar, Potong Pasir, Serangoon, Tampines and Woodlands. The JC Physics page does not say which branches run H2 Physics.

Website: zenitheducationstudio.com

Ask at the trial: Which branch runs H2 Physics on the day we need? How many students are in this slot? Who teaches it?

What does the H2 Physics exam actually test?

H2 Physics is syllabus 9478 on SEAB's list of 2027 A-Level syllabuses. H1 Physics is 8867 and H3 Physics is 9814. Every H2 candidate sits all four papers, and a good centre teaches to this structure, including the practical, not only the school's topic order.

Paper 2Structured questions plus one or two data-based questions worth 20 to 25 marks2 hours7530%

Paper 4Practical, two sections2 hours 30 minutes5020%

The Data and Formulae pages are printed in Papers 1, 2 and 3, and calculators must be on SEAB's approved list. Our H2 Physics formula list sets out what is given and what must be known. SEAB weights the skills as 36% knowledge with understanding, 44% handling, applying and evaluating information, and 20% experimental skills. Papers 2 and 3 both include questions that join ideas from different topics, which is why timed practice on unfamiliar questions matters more than rereading notes.

Paper 4, the practical. Students get 1 hour 15 minutes with the apparatus for each of the two sections and may not bring notes. Planning carries 4% of the grade, and the other 16% covers measuring, presenting data, and analysing and evaluating results. Each candidate has a computer and must process and analyse data in spreadsheet software, so ask any centre how it trains this.

The content. The 20 topics sit in six sections: Foundations of Physics (topics 1 to 4), Mechanics (5 to 9, including circular motion, gravitational fields and oscillations), Waves (10 and 11), Thermal Physics (12 and 13), Electricity and Magnetism (14 to 18, with capacitance inside Electric Fields) and Modern Physics (19 and 20, quantum and nuclear physics). Our JC2 H2 Physics topic page lists them, and our guide on how to score an A in H2 Physics covers paper strategy. An H2 A is worth 20 of the 70 rank points, as our A-Level grading system guide explains.

Centre, home tutor or online?

The cheapest hour is usually a large group class. The most tailored hour is one-to-one. Here is how the published centre fees above compare with the JC rates on our rate card.

A worked example: a JC1 student in a 2-hour weekly class at S$115 a lesson pays S$115 a week. One 1.5-hour lesson a week with a full-time tutor at S$65 to S$90 an hour costs S$97.50 to S$135 a week. Many families keep the weekly centre class and add a few one-to-one sessions before promos or prelims.

How to choose an H2 Physics tuition centre

  1. Start from the gapLook at the last school test. Losing marks on mechanics and fields, on circuit and induction problems, on data-based questions or on the practical? Pick a centre whose teacher and format fit that gap.
  2. Compare cost per hourTurn every quote into a cost per hour, then add registration, materials, deposit and GST. Our table does this for the published fees.
  3. Check the class size for your slotAsk for the number in the class your child would join, not the average.
  4. Ask about Paper 4It is 20% of the grade. Ask whether planning and spreadsheet data analysis are taught, and whether any lab work is included or charged extra.
  5. Book one trialSome centres charge for the trial and one gives none. Ask the cost and whether it is deducted if you enrol.
  6. Review after one monthCompare the next school test with the last. If nothing has moved after about 6 to 8 lessons, ask the centre for a plan or switch.

Trial-lesson checklist

  • Who teaches the class for the whole year, and who covers if they are away?
  • How many students are in this exact slot?
  • Are notes matched to the 9478 syllabus, with timed Paper 2 and Paper 3 practice?
  • How are Paper 4 planning and spreadsheet skills taught?
  • How are questions handled between lessons?
  • What does a missed lesson cost, and is there a recording?
  • What notice is needed to stop, and is any deposit refunded?

A one-to-one option: The Singapore Syllabus

This box is about our own service. It is not one of the centres compared above, and we did not rank ourselves.

Details are on our H2 Physics tuition page and our pricing page. For other JC subjects, see our JC tuition guide and our H2 Maths tuition centres guide. If your child is still choosing subjects, our JC subject combination guide explains H1 and H2 choices.

Common questions

How much does H2 Physics tuition at a centre cost in Singapore?

Among the centres that publish fees, checked on 8 November 2026, group classes cost S$100 to S$115 a lesson, S$360 to S$420 a month, or S$420 to S$460 per four lessons. Where lesson length is published, that works out to roughly S$50 to S$67 an hour before registration, deposit or GST.

What is the best H2 Physics tuition centre in Singapore?

There is no single best centre. Best Physics Tuition and Stalford name former MOE JC teachers, Physics.com.sg suits students heading for H3, Ancourage Academy has the smallest fixed groups, Pivot Physics has the lowest published hourly fee and Zenith has the most branches.

Which H2 Physics centres have the smallest classes?

Ancourage Academy publishes groups of 3 to 6, Super Physics self-formed groups of 3 or 4, Pivot Physics a ratio of one teacher to 6 students and Eclat Institute a maximum of 8. Zenith states up to 60. The others do not publish a number.

Do H2 Physics centres offer trial lessons?

Ancourage Academy lists a standard trial price of S$18. Learners' Lodge, Pivot Physics and Zenith offer a trial at no charge, Learners' Lodge subject to availability. Physics.com.sg gives no trial lessons, and the other centres do not publish trial terms.

What is the H2 Physics syllabus code for 2027?

It is 9478 on SEAB's list of 2027 A-Level syllabuses. H1 Physics is 8867 and H3 Physics is 9814.

How much is the H2 Physics practical worth?

Paper 4 is 20% of the grade, a 2.5-hour practical marked out of 50. Planning carries 4%, and the remaining 16% covers measuring, presenting data and evaluating results, with data processed in spreadsheet software.

What are the hardest parts of H2 Physics?

Questions that join topics, such as fields with motion or circuits with electromagnetic induction, cost the most marks. The data-based questions in Paper 2, worth 20 to 25 marks, and the planning and spreadsheet work in Paper 4 also need practice that school lessons rarely have time for.

When should my child start H2 Physics tuition?

Several centres open 2027 classes before JC1 begins, such as Physics.com.sg's JC1 class from 20 November 2026, and Eclat Institute's lowest fee is for its October to February intake. Starting before JC1 promos gives time to fix gaps in mechanics and graphs, which carry into JC2.

Is one-to-one tuition better than a centre for H2 Physics?

One-to-one follows a single student's weak topics and school schedule, which helps a student who is behind or anxious. It costs more per hour, S$45 to S$130 on our JC rate card, compared with about S$50 to S$67 at the centres above that publish fees.

Are these centres paid to be listed?

No. We chose them by the criteria above and took every fact from each centre's own website on 8 November 2026.
