Best Primary Science Tuition Centres in Singapore 2027: P3 and P4 Compared

Written and reviewed by Theon Teo, Founder · editorial policy

Ten primary science tuition centres in Singapore for P3 and P4, compared on published fees, our cost per hour estimate, class size, branches by region and trial terms. Every fact was read from each centre's own website on 8 November 2026, with what the MOE syllabus teaches in the first two years of Science.

The best primary science tuition centre for a P3 or P4 child is the one that builds curiosity and clear explanations early, at a price and distance you can keep up until PSLE. From what each centre publishes, TinkerLab and Mind Stretcher suit a child who learns best through hands-on experiments. Ancourage Academy (3 to 6 per class) suits a child who is struggling and needs close attention. Mind Stretcher's P4 class, with its named question analysis and answering frameworks, suits a child starting open-ended answers. Science Masterclass at Parkway Centre serves the east, Explorer Academy at The Midtown in Hougang serves the north-east, and Mind Stretcher and AGrader have the lowest published fee per hour in our estimate.

No centre paid to appear here, and the order below is alphabetical (ignoring "The"), not a ranking. We are a home tuition agency, so these centres are an alternative to what we offer. That is why every fact comes from the centre's own website, with the source and date in our research notes.

How we chose these centres

We started from the centres that rank on Google Singapore for "primary science tuition centre", "p3 science tuition", "p4 science tuition singapore" and "primary science enrichment", plus those named by the top listicles. A centre made the list if it met these tests:

  • It teaches P3 and P4 Science as a regular weekly class, not only P5 and P6 exam preparation.
  • It publishes its programme on its own website, so a parent can check levels, method and branches before calling.
  • It has active branches with addresses on its site, or a clearly described online class.
  • It spreads the list across the North, North-East, East, West and Central regions, across price points and across approaches, from hands-on enrichment to answer technique.

This list is for the first two years of Science. For the PSLE years, see our best PSLE Science tuition centres, which compares a different set of centres on P5 and P6 classes.

All facts were checked on 8 November 2026. Fees change, so confirm the figure with the centre before you enrol. Where a centre does not publish something, we say "not published". We did not verify Google ratings for this list, so we leave them out rather than guess.

The comparison table

The per-hour figure is our estimate, worked out from the published fee and the published lesson length. It ignores registration, deposits and materials, which are listed in each centre's section. For example, S$267.05 a month for 4 lessons of 2 hours is S$267.05 divided by 8 hours, or about S$33.38 an hour.

The 10 centres in detail

AGrader Learning Centre

What is distinctive. A multi-subject chain with 20 outlets that teaches Science from P3, with 2-hour weekly lessons and a cap of 12 students a class. Enrolled students get its EverLoop resources: recorded lessons to catch up on a missed class, past-year paper packs, revision packs, topical packs and basic build-up practice.

Who it suits. A family that wants a low monthly fee and a branch close to home, and may add English or Maths later with a bundle discount. Who it may not suit. A child who needs a very small group, since classes can reach 12.

Fees as published. The AY2027 branch timetables we read (Admiralty and Tampines Central) list P3 at S$245 a month for 4 lessons, or S$267.05 with GST, and P4 at S$250, or S$272.50 with GST. Our estimate is about S$33.38 an hour for P3 and S$34.06 for P4. Registration is S$54.50 with GST and the deposit is one month's fee per subject. Its trial is 4 lessons for S$129 plus GST, with registration and deposit collected only from the 5th lesson.

The Pique Lab

What is distinctive. A science specialist on a single campus near Selegie Road, teaching P3 to Sec 2 Science. Its weekly Grade Accelerator Programme (GAP) runs 1.5 hours for P3 and P4, built on its Complete Concept Integration method for linking ideas across topics. Each term allows up to 5 replacement lessons, and classes can also be joined live on Zoom. The centre states an 84.6% distinction rate, without a year.

Who it suits. A child near the city who wants a science-only teacher from P3 and a clear path to the PSLE years. Who it may not suit. Families on a tight budget, since its fee per hour is among the higher ones here.

Fees as published. S$90 per lesson for P3 and P4, billed every 3 months for the lessons in that term. A trial is required before joining and costs the same S$90, nett with GST. Our estimate is S$60 an hour. Registration and deposit are not mentioned.

Branch. GR.iD, 1 Selegie Road, #07-01. Nearest MRT is not stated by the centre.

Website. thepiquelab.com and getting started. Phone +65 9155 7414.

Questions to ask. How many children are in a P3 or P4 GAP class? Which extra courses, if any, will be recommended before P5? How is the distinction rate counted?

Science Masterclass

What is distinctive. A science centre with separate P3, P4 and P5 classes that uses an inquiry approach: hands-on practical sessions, investigations children help design, evaluating experiment data and building mind maps. Its P3 page frames the year around curiosity, simple experiments, living things, materials, life cycles and magnets.

Who it suits. A curious child in Ang Mo Kio or the Marine Parade area who learns by doing. Who it may not suit. Parents who want fees and class size online, since neither is published.

Fees as published. Not published. Its terms say fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, late payment may cost S$59, and missing two straight weeks in term de-registers a student.

Branches. Ang Mo Kio (726 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, #01-4154/4156) and Parkway Centre (1 Marine Parade Central, #12-02). Nearest MRT is not stated by the centre.

Website. sciencemasterclass.com.sg. Phone 9017 5449 (Ang Mo Kio) or 8742 9495 (Parkway).

Website. tinkerlab.com.sg and 2027 schedule. Phone 9224 2505.

Questions to ask. Which 2027 slots are for P4? The schedule labels two tables as P3. Is there a trial lesson, and is it charged? Is the materials fee S$10 or S$20 a term?

What P3 and P4 Science covers

Science starts in P3. MOE's 2023 Primary Science syllabus began with the 2023 P3 cohort and is organised into five themes: Diversity, Cycles, Systems, Interactions and Energy. The themes are spread across P3 to P6, and the first two years cover these topics:

LevelThemeTopic (MOE syllabus)
P3DiversityDiversity of living and non-living things (general characteristics and classification)
P3DiversityDiversity of materials
P3CyclesCycles in plants and animals (life cycles)
P3InteractionsInteraction of forces (magnets)
P4SystemsPlant system (plant parts and functions)
P4SystemsHuman system (digestive system)
P4CyclesCycles in matter and water (matter)
P4EnergyEnergy forms and uses (light)
P4EnergyEnergy forms and uses (heat)

P5 and P6 then add reproduction, the water cycle, respiratory and circulatory systems, electrical systems, photosynthesis, energy conversion, more forces and interactions within the environment. So P3 and P4 are not a warm-up. Every P3 and P4 topic sits inside the PSLE syllabus, and our P3 guide and P4 guide set out the full year for each level.

Skills expected by the end of P4

MOE's syllabus lists the "ways of thinking and doing" a child should reach by the end of P4, and the harder version expected by P6:

SkillBy the end of P4By the end of P6
Asking questionsAsk questions out of curiosityAsk questions that can be investigated
InvestigationsRecognise a fair test (changed and unchanged variables)Design a fair test
Gathering dataGuided investigations, recording with scaffoldingGuided and open investigations, choosing the apparatus
Reading dataSimple analysis of tables, bar and line graphs, charts and diagramsFuller analysis of the same forms

Open-ended answers start to count in P4

In P3, much of the work is observing, classifying and getting the words right. By P4, school papers look like the PSLE paper. At St Gabriel's Primary, for example, the 2026 P4 end-of-year Science paper was 100 marks in 1 hour 45 minutes: 30 multiple-choice questions worth 60 marks in Booklet A and structured, open-ended questions worth 40 marks in Booklet B. That is the same layout as PSLE Science. Even the Term 1 P4 test mixed 10 multiple-choice questions with 3 to 5 structured questions.

This is the year to build three habits: answer the exact question, use the precise keyword ("evaporates", not "dries up"), and explain an experiment by naming what was changed, kept the same and measured. Our PSLE Science keywords list groups the phrases by topic, including the P3 and P4 ones.

How schools weight P3 and P4 Science

There is no national exam at P3 or P4. Each school sets its own weighted assessments (WAs) and end-of-year exam. MOE recommends that school-based Science assessment is 70% to 85% written tests and 15% to 30% performance-based work, such as practicals, projects, model-making, posters, quizzes and teacher observations. Two 2026 school plans show how this looks in practice:

School (2026)Term 1Term 2Term 3End of year
St Gabriel's Primary, P4WA 10%WA 10%WA 10%70%
Tampines Primary, P3 and P4Not weightedWA 15%WA 15%70%

Our guide to WA1, WA2 and SA2 school assessments explains how these marks add up. The P4 result also carries weight beyond the year: MOE states that a child's P4 school exam results decide whether they take Science at Foundation or Standard level in P5 and P6. Our guide to Foundation vs Standard subjects in P5 covers what that choice means.

How to choose

  1. Decide what the class is forIn P3, a hands-on class that builds curiosity and vocabulary is often enough. In P4, look for a class that also teaches written open-ended answers, since the end-of-year paper follows the PSLE layout.
  2. Set a budget per hourDivide the monthly fee by the hours of class. Add registration, deposit and materials for the first term. Remember that tuition at this age may run four years to PSLE.
  3. Shortlist by travelA weekly trip after school adds up. Use the area table above and pick a slot that leaves room for rest and play.
  4. Book a trial or ask the exit termsSeveral centres charge for the trial. Where none is published, ask what happens if you stop after the first month.
  5. Judge the trialUse the checklist below, then decide within a week.

At the trial, check that:

  • your child does or watches a real experiment and is asked what was changed, kept the same and measured
  • the teacher asks "why" questions and waits for your child to explain, not just recall
  • keywords are taught in context, not only as a list to memorise
  • in P4, a written open-ended answer is marked and the missing part is shown
  • your child comes out curious, not drained, and you hear specific feedback afterwards.

Common questions

What is the best primary science tuition centre in Singapore?

There is no official ranking. From published facts, TinkerLab and Mind Stretcher suit children who learn through experiments, Ancourage Academy suits a child who needs a small group, and Mind Stretcher and AGrader have the lowest published fee per hour.

Does my child need Science tuition in P3?

Not always. Science is new in P3, so many children manage with school lessons and curiosity at home. Tuition helps when WA results show gaps in keywords, classification or reading questions, or when a child is anxious about a new subject.

How much does P3 or P4 Science tuition at a centre cost?

Among centres that publish both fee and lesson length, regular P3 and P4 classes work out to about S$31.34 to S$60 an hour in our estimates. Most monthly fees we found sit between S$240 and S$295 for 4 lessons, before registration and deposits.

What topics are taught in P3 and P4 Science?

P3 covers living and non-living things, materials, life cycles and magnets. P4 covers plant parts and functions, the digestive system, matter, light and heat, under MOE's 2023 syllabus.

When do open-ended Science questions start?

P4 is when they carry real weight. At St Gabriel's Primary in 2026, even the Term 1 P4 test had 3 to 5 structured questions, and the end-of-year paper gave 40 of its 100 marks to open-ended questions, the same split as PSLE.

Why does the P4 Science result matter?

MOE states that P4 school exam results decide whether a child takes Science at Foundation or Standard level in P5 and P6. A weak P4 year can narrow the choice for the PSLE years.

What is a good class size for P3 and P4 Science?

Small enough for the teacher to hear each child explain an idea. Among these centres, published sizes range from 3 to 6 students to 12.

Is science enrichment the same as science tuition?

Not quite. Enrichment usually means hands-on experiments and projects to build interest, while tuition follows the school syllabus and trains answers. Several centres here mix both, so ask how much of each lesson is experiments and how much is written practice.

Is a centre or a home tutor better for P3 and P4 Science?

A centre suits a curious child who enjoys group work and wants structure. A home tutor suits a child with specific gaps or a weak WA result who needs one person reading every answer.

How do I check a centre's results claims?

Ask how many students were counted, which year it was, which level and where they started. A percentage means little without those numbers.
