Best Economics Tuition Centres in Singapore (2027): 10 JC Econs Picks

Written and reviewed by Theon Teo, Founder · editorial policy

Ten JC Economics tuition centres side by side: published fees turned into a per-hour cost, class sizes, branches with the nearest MRT, trial terms and questions to ask, plus what the 2027 H2 Economics case studies and essays actually test.

The best Economics tuition centre is the one that fixes the paper costing your child the most marks. For lessons from a former GCE presiding examiner, look at JC Economics Education Centre (Bishan, Bukit Timah, Tampines). For an essay or case study marked every week with a video walkthrough, look at ETG. For the smallest class, Ancourage Academy (Bishan, Woodlands) and The Economics Tutor's mini group both state 3 to 6 students. In the east, AceYourEcons and EconsActually are both at Marine Parade. For IB Economics, The Economics Tutor teaches HL and SL in separate classes. The lowest published fee is Zenith's S$100 a 2-hour lesson before GST, or S$100 for ETG's live Zoom JC1 class.

Economics is hard to shop for because the marks sit in long written answers: essays worth 25 marks each and case study questions that reward evaluation. So this guide asks the questions that matter for H2 Economics: who teaches and marks, how often scripts come back, and how many students share that tutor. Every fact was read on the centre's own website on 7 November 2026. Where a fact is not on the centre's site, we say "not published" rather than guess.

This page is about Economics only. For a wider view, see our JC tuition comparison, which also covers the sciences and GP, and our IB tuition comparison.

How we chose these centres

We searched Google for "economics tuition centre", "h2 economics tuition", "best econs tuition singapore" and "jc econs tuition", and noted the centres that rank and the ones other Economics listicles name. We then kept centres that pass all four tests below.

  1. Teaches Economics as a named JC programmeA JC1 or JC2 H2 or H1 Economics class, not only a general humanities class.
  2. Publishes its programmeIts website shows at least the fee, the timetable, the class size or the named Economics tutor.
  3. Runs active branches or live classesIt lists a current branch, or a 2026 or 2027 Economics timetable.
  4. Spread of area, price and styleTogether, the 10 cover every region, Economics-only specialists and multi-subject centres, small and large classes, on site and online.

All facts were checked on 7 November 2026. Fees often change in January, so confirm the current figure before you pay. No centre paid to appear here, and the detail section is in alphabetical order, not a ranking. One centre that appears on other lists, The Econs Lab, was left out because its website did not load when we checked.

The per-hour figure is our own estimate. We divided the published fee by the published lesson hours. Where a centre does not publish its fee, we could not work it out.

The 10 centres in detail

AceYourEcons

What is distinctive. An H2 Economics centre led by its founder and head coach, Mr Jeffrey Teo, who lists over 10 years of A-Level Economics lecturing, two Economics guidebooks and earlier work as a senior corporate banker. Every class is 2 hours and can be attended in person at Marine Parade or on Zoom. Monthly and term students may swap to any other slot once per four-lesson cycle, and annual students can swap without limit. One JC2 slot on Fridays and one JC1 slot on Thursdays follow the VJC school timetable. It also runs classes for private candidates retaking the A-Level.

Suits: a student in the east who wants a fixed weekly slot with the option to go online in a busy week. May not suit: a student who wants a class under 10, since in-person classes run up to 14 (JC1) or 15 (JC2).

Fees as published (AY2027): S$480 per cycle of 4 lessons. A JC2 term of about 12 lessons is S$1,368 after a 5% concession, and a JC1 term of about 11 lessons is S$1,254. Annual plans work out at S$108 to S$114 a lesson depending on when you register. On top of that, a one-time S$50 registration fee, a S$100 course material fee a year and a deposit of two lessons (S$240) for monthly and term plans. The annual plan has no deposit. An in-person trial pass is S$20 for AY2027 Term 1, usually S$120.

Branch: 1 Marine Parade Central, Parkway Centre #02-04, which the centre describes as a short sheltered walk from the train station (Marine Parade MRT).

Website: aceyourecons.sg

Ask at the trial: How many students are in this exact slot? Does Mr Teo teach it? How quickly are marked essays returned?

Ancourage Academy

What is distinctive. A multi-subject centre that teaches H2 Economics (9570) and H1 Economics in groups of 3 to 6, the smallest published range here alongside one format at The Economics Tutor. Live online classes run on Microsoft Teams with the same teachers and group sizes. The founder and academic director, Min Hui, is an NTU graduate with over 11 years of experience.

Suits: a quiet student who needs to be questioned every lesson, and families in the north. May not suit: a family that wants a price before calling, since fees are not published.

Fees as published: Not published, and the page asks families to contact the centre. There are no registration or material fees. A trial is offered at no charge for a limited time, usually S$18, with no obligation to enrol.

Branches: 152 Bishan Street 11 #01-215 (near Bishan MRT). Vista Point, 548 Woodlands Drive 44 #02-16 (near Woodlands South MRT). Online lessons island-wide.

Website: ancourage.academy

Ask at the trial: What is the fee per lesson for JC Economics? How long is each lesson? Who teaches Economics, and do they mark the essays?

Economics Cafe

What is distinctive. An Economics-only centre in Bishan run by its principal tutor, Mr Edmund Quek, who holds an MSSc in Economics from NUS and three teaching certificates. It teaches H1 and H2 Economics in the classroom and online. The 2026 schedule lists 2-hour JC1 and JC2 slots across the week, and the centre holds a place for an interested student for up to four weeks. The centre states that over 75% of students in his classes obtain a distinction, and up to 90% in some years.

Suits: a student who wants one experienced Economics tutor in Bishan. May not suit: a family that wants published fees or class sizes, since neither is on the site.

Fees as published: Not published. Class size and trial terms are not published either.

Branch: Block 505B Bishan Street 11 #01-422, about a 3-minute walk from Bishan MRT.

Website: economicscafe.com.sg

Ask at the trial: What is the monthly fee? How many students share a class? Does Mr Quek take every lesson, or do other tutors teach some slots?

Economics Focus

What is distinctive. An Economics and GP centre led by its founder and principal tutor, Simon Ng, who lists over 20 years of teaching A-Level Economics and GP. It teaches H2 and H1 Economics in weekly classes for JC1 and JC2, with revision sessions before the A-Levels, and timed practice in class with immediate feedback. An online programme combines e-learning videos, digital notes and live sessions. Students who take Economics and GP together get online GP lessons at no charge. The centre states that 90% of its students achieve an A or B at A-Level Economics.

Suits: a student who wants Economics and GP with one founder, in Bishan or the east. May not suit: a family that wants to compare fees, class size or exact addresses online, since none are published.

Fees as published: Not published. The site asks families to contact Simon. Class size and trial terms are not published.

Branches: Bishan (near Bishan MRT) and Bedok, which serves students from Bedok, Tampines and Pasir Ris. Street addresses are not published.

Website: economicsfocus.com.sg

Ask at the trial: What is the fee per month, and how long is each lesson? Where exactly is the Bedok branch? Does Mr Ng teach this slot?

ETG (Economics at Tuitiongenius)

What is distinctive. An Economics specialist founded by Mr Eugene Toh, who has taught since 2007 and holds a BA in Economics from NUS and an MSc in Applied Economics from SMU. He wrote the H1 and H2 Economics TYS answer keys. Each 2-hour weekly lesson comes with a marked essay or case study, with comments, a worked solution and a video walkthrough, from around June or July of JC1. Lessons can be taken on site, on live Zoom or as recordings, and one-to-one consultations are included. It also teaches IB Economics for Year 5 and Year 6. The centre states a 74% A rate in 2025 and notes its figures are indicative, from voluntary self-reporting.

Suits: a student who wants a script marked every week and a branch in the centre, north-east or east. May not suit: a student who wants a published class size, which the site does not give.

Fees as published (2026 rates, for 2027 if you register early): JC1 H1 or H2 S$105 a lesson on site and S$100 on Zoom. JC2 S$115 on site and S$110 on Zoom. IB Year 5 and 6 S$120. Fees include materials and LMS access. Registering by 31 December 2026 keeps 2026 fees for 2027 and waives S$250 of registration and materials fees. Discounts of S$50 to S$150 a term apply for friends or groups, and financial assistance of 25% to 100% is offered subject to approval. A full 2-hour trial is offered at no charge for most of the year, and JC2 trials may be charged from 15 July.

Branches: Coronation Plaza, 587 Bukit Timah Road #03-01B (about 5 minutes from Tan Kah Kee MRT). 767 Upper Serangoon Road (10 to 15 minutes from Kovan MRT). Classes are 2 hours, and the fee includes structured notes, model essays and past JC prelim and A-Level papers with suggested answers. Students can reach the tutor by email and WhatsApp.

Suits: a student in the east or Ang Mo Kio who wants one tutor and a simple monthly fee with no add-ons. May not suit: a student who needs many slot choices, since the 2026 schedule lists two slots per level.

Fees as published: S$440 a month for 4 lessons of 2 hours, adjusted for the number of lessons in the month and paid at the first lesson. No registration, material or withdrawal fee. Trial terms and class size are not published.

JC Economics Education Centre

What is distinctive. Every lesson is taught by the founder, Dr Anthony Fok, a former MOE teacher and former presiding examiner for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE examinations. He holds a Doctor of Education, a Master of Education from Monash and a PGDE from NIE, and wrote the H1 and H2 Economics Ten-Year Series and more than 10 Economics guidebooks. Practice essays and case studies are marked at no extra charge and students can ask questions on WhatsApp. Lessons are 90 minutes, and recordings are given for missed classes. The centre states that over 50% of its students achieve distinctions each year.

Suits: a student who wants to learn from an examiner-author, with a slot in Bishan, Bukit Timah or Tampines. May not suit: a family that wants a trial first, since none is offered, or a student who wants longer lessons.

Fees as published (2027): S$480 per 4 lessons including 9% GST, pro-rated in a 5-lesson month. A S$120 material fee each academic year, non-refundable. Fees are charged for missed lessons. No trial is offered, but the page offers a full refund if a student asks at the end of a lesson that did not suit them.

Branches: Block 513 Bishan Street 13 #01-500. Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, 170 Upper Bukit Timah Road #B2-01 (Beauty World MRT). Block 201E Tampines Street 23 #02-106. The site does not name the MRT stations. The 2027 timetable has two JC1 and two JC2 slots at Bukit Timah and one of each at Bishan and Tampines.

Website: jceconomics.com

Ask at the trial: How many students are in the class? How fast are marked essays returned? How does the refund work if we stop after one lesson?

The Economics Tutor

What is distinctive. The principal tutor, Kelvin Hong, teaches every group lesson and marks every script himself, and the site says there are no relief teachers. He holds First Class Honours in Economics from NUS and was a PSC scholar. IB Economics HL and SL are taught in separate classes from A-Level. Each week is a 2-hour live lesson plus concept videos, and students can switch between a branch and Google Meet from week to week. H1 Economics is taught one-to-one only. The centre states that 80 to 90% of its students score an A or a 7.

Suits: a student who wants one tutor all year, or an IB student who wants HL and SL taught apart. May not suit: a student who wants the lowest fee, since the mini group is the highest per-hour figure here.

Fees as published (2026): Small group of 8 to 12, S$480 a month. Mini group of 3 to 6, S$660 a month, with more assignments. Both assume 4 lessons a month. Private lessons S$130 to S$240 an hour. A one-time S$80 registration fee and S$120 a semester for materials, with no lock-in deposit. Website: theeconomicstutor.com

Ask at the trial: Is this slot the 8 to 12 or the 3 to 6 group? How many essays are marked each month? When will the 2027 fees be published?

Zenith Education Studio

What is distinctive. The largest network here, with 14 branches and nine named Economics tutors. They include Fung Jia Pei, a former Economics tutor and lecturer at NJC, AJC and RVHS, and Caleb Lai, a former educator on an NUS Economics module. Lessons are 2 hours a week, to the H2 syllabus. A missed lesson can be made up in another class that week, or watched as a recording followed by a one-to-one consult at no charge. The centre states a 90.3% A or B rate for its 2024 JC batch.

Suits: a student who learns well in a lecture-style class and wants a branch near home. May not suit: a student who needs individual attention in class, since classes hold up to 60.

Fees as published (2026, before GST): S$420 a month for one subject, falling per subject for two or more. Per lesson, S$100 for JC1 joining before July and JC2 joining by 31 March, and S$105 for later joiners. A S$400 deposit per subject is refunded in the final month, and a month's notice is needed to keep it. No registration or material fees. A trial class is offered at no charge.

Branches: Bishan, Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah, Buona Vista, Jurong East, Jurong Point, King Albert Park, Kovan, Marymount/Upper Thomson, Paya Lebar, Potong Pasir, Serangoon, Tampines and Woodlands. The Economics page does not say which run Economics, so check the timetable.

Website: zenitheducationstudio.com

Ask at the trial: Which branch runs Economics at my child's level? How many students are in this slot? Who marks the essays, the tutor or an assistant?

What does the H2 Economics exam actually test?

H2 Economics is syllabus 9570, and the 2027 syllabus keeps two compulsory papers. Both test the same three themes: the central economic problem, markets (microeconomics) and the national and international economy (macroeconomics). Our H2 Economics tuition page explains how we teach each paper one-to-one.

Paper 1: Case studiesPaper 2: Essays
Time and weight2 hours 30 minutes, 40%2 hours 30 minutes, 60%
TaskTwo compulsory case studies, each with two to three pages of text, tables or graphs and six or seven part-questionsThree essays out of six: at least one from Section A (mainly micro) and one from Section B (mainly macro)
Marks60: 30 per case study, about 12 for data response and about 18 for higher-order questions75: 25 per essay, split into part (a) for 10 marks and part (b) for 15 marks
What it rewardsReading data, applying theory to a real issue, and judging a policyBuilding a coherent argument and reaching a reasoned judgement

About 60% of the marks on each paper go to questions that need evaluation (SEAB's assessment objective AO4). A student who can explain a diagram but cannot weigh one policy against another will stall at a C. That is why weekly marked essays and timed case studies matter more than extra notes. A calculator approved by SEAB is allowed in both papers.

H1 Economics is a different exam. For 2027, SEAB lists it as syllabus 8843 (earlier years used 8823). It is one 3-hour paper of two case studies, each 40 marks and 50% of the total, with no essays. Its third theme covers the national economy only, without the international economy.

H2 Economics carries up to 20 of the 70 University Admission Score points: an A is 20, a B 17.5 and a C 15. An H1 subject carries half that. Our A-Level grading system guide shows how the full score is built, and our guide to JC subject combinations explains when to take Economics at H1 or H2.

IB Economics follows a different syllabus and exam structure. ETG and The Economics Tutor teach it, and our IB tuition comparison covers more IB options.

Centre, home tutor or online?

The cheapest Economics hour is usually a large class or a live Zoom slot. The most tailored hour is one-to-one, where every minute goes on one student's own essays. Here is how the published centre fees above compare with the JC rates on our rate card.

PointCentre group classOne-to-one home tutor
Cost per hourAbout S$50 to S$82.50, where fees are published (centre fees above)S$45 to S$60 part-time, S$65 to S$90 full-time, S$90 to S$130 ex-MOE (our JC rate card)
Class size3 to 60, by centreOne student
Essay markingWeekly or regular scripts, marked alongside a classEvery essay marked line by line and rewritten in the lesson
PaceSet by the class timetable, theme by themeSet by the student's weakest theme and school test dates
Best forA student who needs a set schedule, notes and regular timed practiceA student stuck at a C or below, or whose evaluation lags their content

A worked example: a JC1 student in a 2-hour weekly class at S$105 a lesson pays about S$420 a month. One 1.5-hour lesson a week with a part-time tutor at S$45 to S$60 an hour costs S$67.50 to S$90 a week, or S$270 to S$360 for 4 weeks. With a full-time tutor at S$65 to S$90 an hour it costs S$390 to S$540 for 4 weeks. Many families use a centre for the weekly class and add a few one-to-one sessions before promos or prelims, when one weak essay type or a poor case study can cost a whole grade.

How to choose an Economics tuition centre

  1. Find the paper that costs the mostLook at the last school paper. Weak data response, weak case study evaluation, or essays that explain but never judge each need a different fix. Ask the centre which it would work on first.
  2. Ask who marks the scriptsEconomics improves through marked writing. Ask how many essays and case studies are marked a month, who marks them and how fast they come back.
  3. Compare cost per hourTurn every quote into a cost per hour and add registration, materials, deposit and GST. Our table does this for the published fees.
  4. Check the class size for your slotAsk for the number in the exact class your child would join, not the average.
  5. Book one trialAsk what it costs and whether it is refunded if you do not continue. Bring a recent marked essay.
  6. Review after one termCompare the next school paper with the last. If the marks have not moved after about 8 to 10 lessons, ask the centre for a plan or switch.

Trial-lesson checklist

  • Who teaches the class all year, and who covers if they are away?
  • How many students are in this exact slot?
  • How many essays and case studies are marked each month, and how quickly are they returned?
  • Is marking done against the 9570 levels, including the evaluation marks?
  • Are both micro and macro essays practised under time, as Paper 2 requires?
  • Are case studies practised with real data tables and graphs?
  • What does a missed lesson cost, and is there a recording?
  • What notice is needed to stop, and is any deposit refunded?

Common questions

How much does Economics tuition at a centre cost in Singapore?

Among the 10 centres we checked on 7 November 2026, published JC Economics group fees run from S$420 a month before GST (Zenith) to S$660 a month, or about S$50 to S$82.50 an hour on our estimate. Four centres do not publish a fee, and registration, materials, deposits and GST can add to the total.

What is the best Economics tuition centre in Singapore?

There is no single best centre. JC Economics Education Centre is led by a former GCE presiding examiner, ETG marks a script every week, Ancourage Academy and The Economics Tutor's mini group have the smallest classes, and Zenith has the most branches and the lowest fee before GST.

Which Economics centres have the smallest classes?

Ancourage Academy and The Economics Tutor's mini group publish 3 to 6 students. The Economics Tutor's small group is 8 to 12, AceYourEcons up to 14 or 15, and Zenith up to 60. The other six do not publish a number.

Do Economics tuition centres offer trial lessons?

Most do. Ancourage Academy, ETG, Indigo and Zenith offer a trial at no charge, AceYourEcons charges S$20 for AY2027 Term 1, and The Economics Tutor runs a half-month paid trial. JC Economics Education Centre offers no trial but a refund at the end of an unsuitable lesson.

What does the 2027 H2 Economics exam include?

Two papers of 2 hours 30 minutes. Paper 1 is two case studies for 60 marks (40%). Paper 2 is three 25-mark essays chosen from six, with at least one micro and one macro, for 75 marks (60%).

How is H1 Economics different from H2?

H1 Economics, syllabus 8843 for 2027, is one 3-hour paper of two case studies worth 80 marks, with no essays. It covers the national economy but not the international economy, and carries half the rank points of H2.

When should my child start Economics tuition?

JC1 is the usual start, because Economics is new to most students and essay skills take months to build. A student who copes in JC1 may wait for the promotional exam to show which paper is weaker. JC2 tuition works best when the gap is specific, such as evaluation or one theme.

Which centres teach IB Economics?

On this list, The Economics Tutor teaches IB HL and SL in separate classes, and ETG runs IB Year 5 and Year 6 classes at Bukit Timah. Our IB tuition comparison covers other IB centres.

How many rank points is H2 Economics worth?

Up to 20 of the 70 University Admission Score points. An A is 20, a B 17.5 and a C 15, and an H1 subject is worth half.

Are these centres paid to be listed?

No. We chose them by the criteria above and took every fact from each centre's own website on 7 November 2026.
