Best POA Tuition Centres in Singapore (2027): 10 Compared

Written and reviewed by Theon Teo, Founder · editorial policy

Ten Principles of Accounts tuition options in Singapore side by side: published fees turned into a per-hour cost, class sizes, branches with the nearest MRT, trial terms and questions to ask, plus what the 2027 SEC POA (K342) papers actually test.

The best POA tuition centre is the one that fixes the step where your child loses marks. For a student who is failing and needs to rebuild from double entry, look at InstanTuition in Tampines, where each student works at their own level in a group of at most 5. For ex-MOE teachers and four branches across the island, look at SG POA, which also has the lowest 2027 group fee at about S$43 an hour before GST. For the lowest rate on any published card, Mr Wong POA Tuition charges S$200 to S$300 a month on its 2025 card, with branches beside Dhoby Ghaut, Jurong East and Tampines MRT stations. For lessons from a chartered accountant, look at Ace Your POA (Marine Parade) or Best POA (Kallang). In the north-east, Master Principles of Accounts runs classes in Serangoon and Edulight teaches at Buangkok. For the most branches, EduFirst lists 28. For one-to-one lessons with a POA specialist, look at POA Tutor.

POA is hard to shop for because most students meet it for the first time in Secondary 3, and the subject builds on itself. A student who never understood why a transaction is debited in Term 1 will struggle with adjustments, statements and ratios by Sec 4. So this guide asks the questions that matter for POA: who teaches, how big the class is, and whether the lesson is taught to the whole class or worked through student by student. Every fact was read on the provider's own website on 8 November 2026. Where a fact is not on the site, we say "not published" rather than guess.

This page is about Principles of Accounts only. For a wider view, see our Secondary tuition comparison, and for the exam itself, our SEC POA exam guide.

How we chose these centres

We searched Google for "poa tuition singapore", "principles of accounts tuition centre", "o level poa tuition" and "poa tutor", and noted the providers that rank and the ones other POA listicles name. We then kept the ones that pass all four tests below.

  1. Teaches POA as a named programmeA Secondary 3, Secondary 4 or Secondary 5 Principles of Accounts class, not only a general secondary package.
  2. Publishes its programmeIts website shows at least the fee, the timetable, the class size or the named POA teacher.
  3. Runs active classesIt lists a current branch, a 2026 or 2027 timetable, or live online lessons.
  4. Spread of area, price and styleTogether, the 10 cover the north-east, east, west and central areas, POA-only specialists and multi-subject chains, group and one-to-one, on site and online.

All facts were checked on 8 November 2026. Fees often change in January, so confirm the current figure before you pay. No provider paid to appear here, and the detail section is in alphabetical order, not a ranking. Several names on other lists were left out because their websites did not load when we checked or did not show POA among their subjects.

The 10 POA tuition options compared

The per-hour figure is our own estimate. We divided the published fee by the published lesson hours. Where a provider does not publish its fee or its lesson length, we could not work it out.

The 10 centres in detail

Ace Your POA

What is distinctive. A POA-only centre led by its principal tutor, Mr Alex Quek, who lists himself as a Chartered Accountant of Singapore (inducted 2018), a former auditor at Deloitte, an associate lecturer on the SIM accounting diploma programme, and the writer of a POA Ten-Year Series solutions book. It teaches Sec 3 to Sec 5 in both streams, and its 2026 timetable already lists Sec 3 classes for the new K342 (G3) and K233 (G2) syllabuses. It also runs a 2-day revision workshop in the major school holidays, a live online class on its own web classroom, and private coaching for private candidates. The centre states that 7 in 10 of its students scored an A in the 2025 GCE POA examinations.

Suits: a student in the east who wants to learn from a practising accountant. May not suit: a family that wants to compare price and class size before calling, since neither is published.

Fees as published: Not published. Class size is not published either. The site offers a consultation with the principal tutor at no charge, and the on-site timetable shows 2-hour slots.

Branch: Roxy Square Shopping Centre, 50 East Coast Road #02-113 (the site does not name an MRT station. Marine Parade MRT is the closest).

Website: sg.aceyourpoa.com

Ask at the trial: What is the monthly fee, and is GST on top? How many students are in this slot? Does Mr Quek teach every lesson?

Best POA

What is distinctive. A POA centre led by Mr Edmund Ling, an ACCA graduate and Chartered Accountant of Singapore who lists past work as a senior auditor, accountant, financial analyst, tax consultant and lecturer. Group classes take 2 to 6 students, and one-to-one lessons can be arranged. Lessons run on site or online with hardcopy notes. It also runs June holiday crash courses and short end-of-year revision courses for current students, in September for N(A) and in October or November for O Level. The centre states that 90% of its students score A or B grades.

Suits: a student who wants a small group and a simple hourly fee. May not suit: a family that wants to know the exact venue first, since only "Kallang" is published.

Fees as published: S$55 an hour for group lessons and S$65 an hour for one-to-one. A S$50 material fee is charged at registration. There are no deposits or lock-in fees. Fees are paid by the first lesson of each month. A trial lesson is offered at no charge. Lesson length is not published. The site footer is dated 2020, so confirm the fee is current.

Branch: Kallang. Street address and nearest MRT not published.

Website: bestpoa.com

Ask at the trial: How long is each lesson? Where exactly is the class held? Is the S$55 rate still current for 2027?

EduFirst Learning Centre

What is distinctive. A multi-subject chain with 28 branches that teaches N and O Level POA alongside other upper secondary subjects. Its senior POA tutor, Mr Bernard Tan, holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) from NTU's Nanyang Business School and is a certified accountant with 15 years of private tutoring. Another tutor, Miss Xiaoyan, wrote the centre's POA assessment book. The 2027 rate card charges the same fee for every Sec 3 and Sec 4 or 5 subject, with a discount for each extra subject, and includes materials and exam papers.

Suits: a family that wants POA at a nearby branch, perhaps with other subjects at the same centre. May not suit: a family set on a POA-only specialist, or one that needs to know which branch runs POA before calling, since the POA page does not say.

Fees as published (2027): S$320 a month for Sec 3 or Sec 4 and 5, for 4 lessons of 1.5 hours, subject to GST. A second subject is S$310, a third S$300 and a fourth S$290. Registration is S$50, payable with the first month's fees and one month's deposit. The home page offers a trial class at no charge, with terms not shown.

Branches: 28 branches, including Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Bukit Batok, Clementi, Hougang, Jurong East, Pasir Ris, Punggol, Sengkang, Tampines, Toa Payoh, Woodlands and Yishun. The site does not say which run POA classes.

Website: edufirst.com.sg

Ask at the trial: Which branch near us runs POA, and on which day? Does Mr Tan or Miss Xiaoyan teach that class? Are G2 and G3 students taught in the same group?

Edulight (POA Tuition)

What is distinctive. A small POA practice run by Mr Felix Lim, who lists 13 years of full-time POA teaching, a Master of Finance and earlier work in auditing. Classes are 1 hour 45 minutes, with five Sec 3 slots and five N and O Level slots a week, and every slot can be joined on site or online. Lesson recordings and notes are kept online, and study notes and materials are included.

Suits: a student in the north-east who wants one specialist teacher, a small group and a recording to revise from. May not suit: a family that wants a trial before paying, since trial terms are not published.

Fees as published (2027): S$360 per 4 lessons for Sec 3 and S$420 per 4 lessons for N and O Level, paid in the first week of each month. No deposit is required. Registration fee and trial terms are not published.

Branch: Buangkok Crescent. The full address and nearest MRT are not published.

Website: edulight.sg

Ask at the trial: Is there a trial lesson, and what does it cost? How many students join online in the same slot? Where exactly is the classroom?

InstanTuition EduHub

What is distinctive. An MOE-registered centre in Tampines that teaches Maths, Science and POA, and calls itself a POA specialist since 2016. Its POA classes take at most 5 students per teacher, and each student works on their own topic or question with the teacher coaching one by one, so a weak Sec 4 student can rebuild Sec 3 topics while another practises exam papers. It does not follow a fixed term, so lessons are not repeated when new students join. Make-up classes are allowed with a valid document such as a medical certificate, and lessons are not recorded. Ms Kacey is the POA teacher named in parent comments on the page.

Suits: a student who is failing or barely passing and needs to rebuild double entry at their own pace. May not suit: a student who wants a lecture-style class that moves through the syllabus together, or a recording to replay.

Fees as published: Not published. Lesson length and trial terms are not published either.

Branch: Blk 801 Tampines Avenue 4 #02-267 (take the stairs at Lobby B), a 2-minute walk from Exit A of Tampines West MRT.

Website: instantuition.com

Ask at the trial: What is the monthly fee, and how long is each lesson? Will Ms Kacey teach my child? How do you check what a new student does not yet understand?

Master Principles of Accounts (MPOA)

What is distinctive. A POA-only centre run by Jump Grades Education and founded by Mr Caleb Ho, an accounting graduate of NTU's Nanyang Business School who lists 18 years of POA teaching. Group classes meet once a week for 1.5 hours, on site or online. It also offers one-to-one home tuition, A-Level and polytechnic accounting, and a two-lesson online basics class with three months of recordings. Before enrolling, a new student takes a 10-minute online placement test and a consultation.

Suits: a student in Serangoon or Bedok who wants a POA-only centre with fixed term dates. May not suit: a student who needs many slot choices, since the Serangoon Sec 3 page lists one regular Friday slot, with other days waitlisted.

Fees as published: S$80 a lesson for the 2026 Sec 3 Serangoon class. Term 1 (10 lessons) is S$800, Term 2 (8 lessons) S$640, and Terms 3 and 4 (10 lessons each) S$800. GST, registration, materials, deposit and trial terms are not published. Sec 4 fees are not published.

Branches: 266 Serangoon Central Drive, near NEX, about a 5-minute walk from Serangoon MRT. Blk 208 New Upper Changi Road, about a 5-minute walk from Bedok MRT. The unit number for each is sent on registration.

Website: principlesofaccounts.com.sg

Ask at the trial: How many students are in this exact slot? Is the 2027 fee still S$80 a lesson, and is GST added? Who teaches the class, Mr Ho or another tutor?

Mr Wong POA Tuition

What is distinctive. A POA tuition practice led by Mr Wong, an NTU engineering graduate who completed all the ACCA professional examinations, was named among ACCA's top 30 graduates in Singapore, and works as an accounting practitioner. Classes take up to 8 students, on site or online, and each student works at their own pace within the group. The site lists more than 10 classes a week, and a smaller class can be requested. Classroom lessons are 1.5 hours and online lessons 2 hours. Notes and worksheets are included, and a missed lesson can be carried forward to the next month.

Suits: a student who wants a low monthly fee and a classroom next to an MRT station in the centre, west or east. May not suit: a family that wants confirmed 2027 fees, since the latest rate card on the site is for 2025.

Fees as published (2025 rate card, the latest on the site): fees are nett, for 4 lessons a month, and fixed for the year once registered. Classroom: Sec 3 S$240 a month, Sec 4 and 5 (N and O Level) S$240 to S$300 depending on when the first lesson falls. Online: Sec 3 S$200 a month, Sec 4 and 5 S$200 to S$260. The site says a registration fee and deposit are not included in these rates but does not give the amounts. Trial terms are not published.

Branches: Singapore Shopping Centre, 190 Clemenceau Avenue, next to Dhoby Ghaut MRT. Vision Exchange, 2 Venture Drive, about 5 minutes from Jurong East MRT. Tampines Junction, 300 Tampines Avenue 5, about 5 minutes from Tampines MRT.

Website: mrwongpoatuition.com

Ask at the trial: What are the 2027 fees, the registration fee and the deposit? Which branch runs this slot? Does Mr Wong teach every class?

POA Tuition SG (APEX Tuition Studio)

What is distinctive. A one-to-one POA service run by Mr Dennis, who lists over 18 years of teaching. Lessons are private and held live on Microsoft Teams, with the class capped at one student. The site also offers secondary school POA prelim papers and notes, and covers E-Maths.

Suits: a student who learns best alone with one tutor and is happy to work online. May not suit: a student who wants a classroom, or a family that wants the regular fee before booking.

Fees as published: Regular fees are not published. A no-obligation trial is S$88 for a 1.5-hour online session.

Branch: 421 Tampines Street 41. Nearest MRT not published. Lessons are online.

Website: poatuition.sg

Ask at the trial: What is the regular fee after the trial? How often should my child have lessons before the SEC exam? Can you work from my child's school worksheets?

POA Tutor

What is distinctive. A one-to-one POA tutor, Mr Chong, who teaches every level from Sec 3 to A-Level, IGCSE, diploma and university accounting, and runs crash courses. He states that he is not an MOE teacher. Lessons are 2 hours, face to face or online, and online lessons can be recorded for the student to replay. His students also get access to his online accounting course.

Suits: a student who wants one-to-one lessons from a POA specialist, or a private candidate. May not suit: a family that wants a fixed centre to visit, since no location is published.

Fees as published: S$60 an hour face to face and S$60 to S$70 an hour online for N and O Level, in 2-hour lessons, collected at the end of each lesson. A-Level is S$80 an hour. A trial lesson can be requested and is charged at the normal fee. A 15-minute online demo call can be booked at no charge.

Branch: Location not published.

Website: poatutor.com.sg

Ask at the trial: Where are face-to-face lessons held? Can lessons be 1.5 hours instead of 2? How will you track my child's progress against the SEC papers?

SG POA (Wynn Education)

What is distinctive. A POA and Maths centre with four branches whose POA teachers, Mr Wynn Khoo, Mr Francis Chua, Mr Anthony Quek and Ms Amber Wan, are described as ex-MOE teachers trained for the syllabus change. The site says its teachers are full time, with no part-timers or undergraduates. It publishes its own POA mock papers and revision guide. Students can join on site or online, and a missed lesson can be made up on another day that week or replaced with a recording.

Suits: a student who wants ex-MOE teachers and a branch close to home, at the lowest published group rate here. May not suit: a student who wants a very small class, since the maximum is 10 to 12.

Fees as published (2027): Sec 3 S$75 a lesson of 1 hour 45 minutes. Sec 4 and 5 S$85 a lesson of 2 hours. GST applies. A one-time registration fee of S$50, with no deposit or material fee. Fees are paid every two months in advance. A trial lesson is available on request, with the price not published. The FAQ page still shows lower and online rates (S$75 and S$80 on site, S$70 and S$75 online), so ask which applies.

Branches: Bishan, Block 513 Bishan Street 13 #01-500, beside Junction 8 (Bishan MRT). Marine Parade, Parkway Centre, 1 Marine Parade Central #08-07 (Marine Parade MRT). Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, 170 Upper Bukit Timah Road #03-29 (Beauty World MRT). Jurong East, 135 Jurong Gateway Road #04-315, beside Jurong Regional Library (Jurong East MRT).

Website: poatuition.com

Ask at the trial: How many students are in this slot? Which teacher takes it? Is the online rate lower in 2027?

What does the SEC POA exam actually test?

From 2027, Principles of Accounts is examined at the Secondary Education Certificate (SEC). The G3 syllabus is K342, which replaces O-Level POA 7087, and the G2 syllabus is K233, which replaces N(A) POA 7086. POA is an elective that starts in Secondary 3. Our SEC syllabus codes guide lists every new code, and our SEC POA exam guide goes through the paper question by question.

Paper 1Paper 2
Time and weight1 hour, 40%2 hours, 60%
Task3 to 4 compulsory structured questions4 compulsory structured questions
Marks4060, including 20 for one set of financial statements for one financial year
Special questionNoneA 7-mark scenario-based question inside one of the other three questions

Candidates write their answers on the question paper in both papers, and an SEAB-approved calculator is allowed. The scenario-based question gives a fictional business, two choices, and both accounting and non-accounting information. The student must make a decision and explain 3 reasons using evidence from the scenario. The business context comes from one of five topics: inventory, trade payables, trade receivables, non-current assets or business entities.

SEAB weights the marks across four skills. Knowledge is 25% and application 25%, but analysis and synthesis is 30% and evaluation 20%. In practice, half the paper asks a student to interpret, judge and recommend rather than record. A student who can post entries but cannot explain what a ratio says about a business will stall.

The syllabus has three parts: accounting for decisions (including profitability, liquidity and efficiency ratios), accounting as the language of business (the elements, the accounting equation, the two financial statements, assets, liabilities, equity and correction of errors), and accounting as an information system (theories, the accounting cycle, double entry and internal controls). Questions cover at most three financial periods, except a ratio comparison over three years or against one other business.

G3 POA is graded A1 to 9, and a grade of E8 or better earns the certificate. Written papers other than English and Mother Tongue run from October to November, and results come out in January. Our SEC grading guide explains how the grades work, and our guide to how SEC replaces the O-Level covers the wider change.

Centre, home tutor or online?

The cheapest POA hour is usually a larger group class. The most tailored hour is one-to-one, where every minute goes on one student's own errors. Here is how the published centre fees above compare with the Sec 3 and Sec 4 rates on our rate card.

PointCentre group classOne-to-one home tutor
Cost per hourAbout S$40 to S$60 in a classroom, where fees are published, and as low as S$25 online (centre fees above)S$35 to S$45 part-time, S$45 to S$65 full-time, S$65 to S$95 ex-MOE (our Sec 3 and Sec 4 rate card)
Class sizeUp to 5 to 12, by centreOne student
Error checkingWorked examples for the group, with some one-by-one coachingEvery entry and statement checked line by line in the lesson
PaceSet by the class timetable, topic by topicSet by the student's weakest topic and school test dates
Best forA student who needs a weekly routine, drills and timed practiceA student who has fallen behind in Sec 3 or keeps losing marks on statements or adjustments

A worked example: a Sec 4 student in a 2-hour weekly class at S$85 a lesson pays about S$340 a month before GST. One 1.5-hour lesson a week with a part-time tutor at S$35 to S$45 an hour costs S$52.50 to S$67.50 a week, or S$210 to S$270 for 4 weeks. With a full-time tutor at S$45 to S$65 an hour it costs S$270 to S$390 for 4 weeks. Many families use a centre for the weekly class and add a few one-to-one sessions before the prelims, when one weak topic such as adjustments or correction of errors can cost a grade.

How to choose a POA tuition centre

  1. Find the step that costs the mostLook at the last school test. Wrong double entry, statements that do not balance, weak adjustments or thin evaluation answers each need a different fix. Ask the centre which it would work on first.
  2. Ask how the class is runSome centres teach the whole class one topic. Others coach each student on their own work. A student who is far behind usually needs the second.
  3. Compare cost per hourTurn every quote into a cost per hour and add registration, materials, deposit and GST. Our table does this for the published fees.
  4. Check the class size for your slotAsk for the number in the exact class your child would join, not the average.
  5. Book one trialAsk what it costs and whether it counts towards the first month. Bring a recent marked test.
  6. Review after one termCompare the next school test with the last. If the marks have not moved after about 8 to 10 lessons, ask the centre for a plan or switch.

Trial-lesson checklist

  • Who teaches the class all year, and who covers if they are away?
  • How many students are in this exact slot, and are G2 and G3 students mixed?
  • Is the class taught to the K342 syllabus, including the 7-mark scenario-based question?
  • How often does the class prepare a full set of financial statements under time?
  • Are ratio and evaluation answers marked and returned with comments?
  • What does a missed lesson cost, and is there a make-up or a recording?
  • What notice is needed to stop, and is any deposit refunded?

Common questions

How much does POA tuition at a centre cost in Singapore?

Among the providers we checked on 8 November 2026, published 2027 POA group fees run from about S$43 an hour before GST (SG POA) to S$60 an hour (Edulight's N and O Level class). Mr Wong POA Tuition's 2025 card is lower, at S$25 to S$50 an hour, and one-to-one specialists charge S$60 to S$70 an hour. Registration, materials, deposits and GST can add to the total.

What is the best POA tuition centre in Singapore?

There is no single best centre. SG POA has ex-MOE teachers, four branches and the lowest 2027 group fee, Mr Wong POA Tuition has the lowest rate on any published card, InstanTuition coaches each student at their own level, Ace Your POA and Best POA are led by chartered accountants, and EduFirst has the most branches.

Which POA centres have the smallest classes?

InstanTuition publishes at most 5 students per teacher, and Best POA and Edulight up to 6. MPOA's Serangoon class and Mr Wong take up to 8, EduFirst 4 to 8 and SG POA 10 to 12. POA Tutor and POA Tuition SG teach one student at a time.

Do POA tuition centres offer trial lessons?

Best POA and EduFirst offer a trial at no charge. POA Tuition SG charges S$88 for a 1.5-hour online trial, POA Tutor charges the normal fee, and SG POA offers a trial on request. The others do not publish trial terms.

What does the 2027 SEC POA exam include?

Two papers. Paper 1 is 3 to 4 structured questions for 40 marks in 1 hour (40%). Paper 2 is 4 structured questions for 60 marks in 2 hours (60%), including a 20-mark set of financial statements and a 7-mark scenario-based decision question.

What is the new POA syllabus code?

From 2027, G3 POA is K342, replacing O-Level 7087, and G2 POA is K233, replacing N(A) 7086. Students who sat the exam in 2026 or earlier took 7087 or 7086.

What is the scenario-based question in POA?

It is a 7-mark part of one Paper 2 question. The student chooses between two options for a fictional business and explains 3 reasons using both accounting and non-accounting information. The context comes from inventory, trade payables, trade receivables, non-current assets or business entities.

When should my child start POA tuition?

Early in Secondary 3 is the usual start if double entry does not click, because every later topic depends on it. A student who copes in Sec 3 can wait for the end-of-year exam to show which topics are weak. Sec 4 tuition works best when the gap is specific, such as statements, adjustments or evaluation.

Is it too late to start POA tuition in Sec 4?

No, but there is less time to rebuild. A Sec 4 student who is failing usually needs Sec 3 topics such as double entry and the accounting equation fixed first, before timed exam practice. A small coached group or one-to-one lessons suit this best.
