The final GCE O-Level results are expected between 13 and 15 January 2027. Here is how to collect the slip and certificate, read the grades, work out L1R5, appeal, replace a lost certificate and use the JAE, plus what changes when the SEC results arrive in 2028.
The 2026 GCE O-Level results are expected between Wednesday 13 and Friday 15 January 2027, and students collect their result slip and certificate at their own secondary school that afternoon. Applications for the 2027 Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) open at 4pm the same day and run for six calendar days. The 2026 paper is the final GCE O-Level. From 2027, Secondary 4 and 5 students sit the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC), so from January 2028 the results your child collects will be SEC results. This guide covers results day, the week after and the years that follow, using only what MOE and SEAB have published.
No release time has been published for 2027 yet. Last year the 2025 O-Level results came out on 14 January 2026 at 2pm, with Form A emailed from 2.45pm. Expect a similar early afternoon release.

By proxy. If your child cannot go, they can appoint a proxy and tell the school in advance. Last year SEAB said the proxy must produce the relevant documents for the school's verification. MOE's JAE page has a proxy form for collecting results. Students who cannot find a proxy should call the school.
Online. School candidates do not get the full results online on the day, but Form A arrives by email and can also be downloaded in JAE-IS during the application window. It lists the gross aggregate scores and the courses your child can apply for. Two weeks after release, Singapore Citizens and PRs with Singpass can download their digitised results in OpenCerts format from the Skills Passport on MySkillsFuture.
Private candidates view their results on SEAB's Candidates Portal with Singpass, or with the account made at registration if they have no Singpass. Last year the portal showed results from 2.45pm on results day until 11pm two weeks later. Certificates are posted to the registered address within five working days.
Result slip or certificate: what is the difference?

SEAB's rules for 2026 say the certificate is given through the school on results day, and that the name and ID printed on it are the ones your child checked on the Verification Slip at registration. A change of name by deed poll after registration cannot be added. If your child took Mother Tongue in the mid-year exam (results in late August), the certificate shows the better of the two grades.
How to read O-Level grades
O-Level uses nine grades. SEAB states that A1 is the highest and grade 9 the lowest, and that grade 9 means the work has not met the minimum standard for the subject. For the aggregates, each grade is worth its number in points.
Grade
Points
What it means
A1, A2
1, 2
Pass, the top two grades
B3, B4
3, 4
Pass
C5, C6
5, 6
Pass, C6 is the lowest pass
D7, E8
7, 8
Below a pass. D7 still meets some minimum grades, such as Maths for JC
9
9
Not met the minimum standard
Other marks on the slip:
Distinction, Merit, Pass or Ungraded is the oral and aural result in Chinese, Malay or Tamil.
Absent means your child missed at least one paper of the subject, including an oral or practical. The subject gets no grade and does not appear on the certificate.
SEAB does not publish mark ranges for each grade. MOE has said the national exams are standards-referenced, not graded on a bell curve, so more students get an A1 when more students reach that standard.
Junior colleges use L1R5 and polytechnics use ELR2B2. MOE's JC rules and poly rules set the slots:
Aggregate
Used for
Subjects counted
2027 JAE limit
L1R5
JC
English or Higher MTL, best Humanities, best Maths or Science, best remaining Humanities, Maths or Science, then any 2 best
Gross 20 or below
L1R4
Millennia Institute
English or Higher MTL, 2 best Humanities, Maths or Science, then any 2 best
Gross 20 or below
ELR2B2
Polytechnic
English, 2 subjects relevant to the course, then 2 best others
Net 26 or below (Nursing 28)
Bonus points come off the gross score to give the net score that posting uses. For JC the cap is 4: CCA Excellent 2 or Good 1, English and Higher MTL both at A1 to C6 for 2, and affiliation 2 (for the first one or two choices only). For poly only the CCA points apply. Our L1R5 guide explains every rule, and the LEAPS 2.0 guide covers CCA points.
Worked example. Wei Ling's slip shows English B3, History A2, Additional Maths A1, Chemistry B3, Elementary Maths A2, Physics B4 and Chinese C5, with CCA Excellent.
L1 English 3, R1 History 2, R2 A-Math 1, R3 Chemistry 3, R4 E-Math 2, R5 Physics 4. Gross L1R5 is 15.
Minus 2 for CCA gives a net L1R5 of 13.
For a poly course whose relevant subjects are Maths and a Science: English 3, A-Math 1, Chemistry 3, then the best two others, E-Math 2 and History 2. Gross ELR2B2 is 11, net 9 after CCA.
Enter your child's own grades below and the calculator fills each slot and applies the bonus points.
Calculate your L1R4, ELR2B2 or L1R5
Pick your admissions year, then enter English and your other subjects with their grades. The calculator picks the subjects the way MOE counts them.
For the first SEC cohort: sitting the SEC in 2027 and applying in the 2028 Post-Secondary Admissions Exercise (PSE), which MOE runs in place of the JAE.
Other subjects
Set each subject's level. JC and MI count G3 subjects only.
Minimum grades for JC. Even with a good L1R5, a JC needs English at A1 to C6, Maths or A-Math at A1 to D7, and Mother Tongue at A1 to D7 (Higher MTL A1 to E8). A student who misses one of these can still get conditional admission with a gross L1R5 of 15 or better, or 16 to 20 with A1 or A2 in all five relevant subjects, and must pass the subject by the end of JC1.
For polys, Nursing at NYP took 7 to 28 and at NP 6 to 28, and 113 of the 193 courses with a range had a last admitted score of 14 or higher. Every school is in our JC cut-off points and poly cut-off points lists.
Can O-Level results be appealed or remarked?
Yes. SEAB calls it an appeal for review of results, and its 2026 rules set the process:
1Decide within daysThe deadline is five working days from results day, and late applications are not accepted
2Apply through the schoolSchool candidates submit through their school. Private candidates use the Candidates Portal
3Pay the feeA fee is charged for each subject, inclusive of GST, and announced each year. The appeal is sent to SEAB only after payment
4Wait for the reviewAn independent senior marker remarks the scripts and checks every mark entry
5Get the outcomeWithin six weeks of the deadline, through the school. A changed grade comes with a replacement certificate
Points to know before you pay:
An appeal cannot be withdrawn once submitted, and fees are not refunded.
SEAB does not return marked scripts and gives no report on the performance.
The outcome comes after JAE posting, so apply for the JAE on the grades you have. If a grade improves, contact the institution you want, because JC and MI appeals go to the school and poly appeals have their own deadline.
An appeal is worth considering when a grade is far below what your child's school results suggested.

Who applies: Singapore Citizens and PRs with O-Level results from any year, and international students who sat the 2026 O-Level in a government, government-aided or independent school. Students with a confirmed DSA-JC or Poly EAE place cannot join the JAE.
How: On JAE-IS with your child's own Singpass. MOE is clear that you cannot use a parent's Singpass. Your child lists up to 12 courses in order of preference, across JCs, MI, polys and ITE.
Posting: By net score first. When scores tie, citizenship comes first, then the lower gross score, then a computerised ballot.
If your child cannot apply in the window: a parent, guardian or adult aged 21 or over can apply for them through MOE's assistance form.
Our JAE 2027 guide explains how to order the 12 choices.
Poly EAE and DSA-JC
Students who received a conditional Poly EAE offer in 2026 have it confirmed automatically on results day if their net ELR2B2 is 26 or better (28 for Nursing) and they meet the course's minimum entry requirements. A DSA-JC offer is confirmed if the student meets the JC criteria. Both outcomes arrive by email on results day, and a student with a confirmed place cannot then join the JAE. If the offer is not confirmed, apply in the JAE as normal.
ITE's 2-year Higher Nitec courses take O-Level holders through the JAE, using ELB4, ELR1B3 or ELR2B2 aggregates and at least five subjects from no more than two years. The 3-year Higher Nitec courses use the separate Joint Intake Exercise for O-Level holders. In 2026 it ran from 4pm on 14 January to 4.30pm on 19 January, with results at 9am on 22 January, so expect a similar mid-January window in 2027. A Higher Nitec with a good GPA can lead on to a polytechnic diploma.
What if the results are poor?
Take a day before deciding. Then work through these steps:
1Check every aggregate, not only L1R5A student above 20 for JC may still be within MI's L1R4 of 20 or a poly course's ELR2B2
2Look at last year's rangesMost poly courses admitted students at 14 or higher last year, and 19 at 26
3Use all 12 JAE choicesInclude courses you are confident of near the bottom of the list
4Consider an appeal only for a clear mismatchFive working days, fee per subject, no refund
5Plan a retake if a goal truly needs itRegister as a private candidate for the 2027 SEC
Retaking under the SEC. The 2026 O-Level cannot be resat as an O-Level, because from 2027 the national exam is the SEC. A private candidate can take chosen subjects at chosen levels in the 2027 SEC, and SEAB will post the 2027 registration details in March 2027. Students enrolled in a government, government-aided, independent or specialised school cannot register as private candidates. For the 2028 PSE, MOE lets applicants combine results from up to two exam years of SEC and GCE O-Level, so a better SEC grade in 2027 can sit beside the 2026 O-Level grades. Our private candidate guide and failed SEC or O-Level guide go through the options in more detail.
MOE's Education and Career Guidance (ECG) counsellors also help students on results day and after. Last year the ECG Centre at MOE offered counselling from 7 to 21 January.
How to talk to your child on results day
Let them open it first. Ask how they feel before you ask about the numbers.
Separate the grade from the person. A weak grade in one subject does not decide a career.
Keep the deadlines in view, gently. The JAE closes six days after results, so agree a time the next day to sit down with Form A and the cut-off lists.
Talk about fit, not only the score. A student who scrapes into JC may do better in a poly course they care about, and the reverse is true too. Our JC vs poly guide helps with that conversation.
Do not compare. Friends' results come out the same afternoon. Keep the focus on your child's own options.
What changes with SEC results from 2028
The first SEC exam is held in 2027 and replaces the N(T), N(A) and O-Level. SEAB says English and Mother Tongue written papers are in September, the other written papers in October and November, and the results come out in January of the following year. MOE puts the first SEC results in mid-January 2028.

Common questions
When are the O-Level results out in 2027?
SEAB expects the 2026 O-Level results between Wednesday 13 and Friday 15 January 2027. The exact day is announced closer to the date, and last year's results came out on 14 January 2026 at 2pm.
What time are O-Level results released?
The 2027 time has not been published. Last year school candidates collected from 2pm, and private candidates could see results online from 2.45pm.
Can I check my O-Level results online?
Private candidates can, on SEAB's Candidates Portal with Singpass. School candidates collect at school, get Form A by email, and can download digitised results from MySkillsFuture two weeks later.
Can someone else collect my child's results?
Yes. Appoint a proxy, tell the school in advance, and send the proxy with the documents the school asks for.
What is the difference between the result slip and the O-Level cert?
The slip lists every subject and grade for results day and the JAE. The certificate is the lifelong record, given to students with C6 or better in at least one subject, and it leaves out Absent subjects.
How do I replace a lost O-Level certificate?
You cannot. SEAB issues no replacements, so download your digitised results from MySkillsFuture with Singpass, or ask SEAB for a copy, which costs S$16 per exam year from 1 January 2027.
How do I appeal an O-Level grade?
Apply through your school within five working days of results day and pay the fee for each subject. An independent senior marker reviews the scripts, and the outcome comes within six weeks of the deadline.
What L1R5 do I need for JC in 2027?
A gross L1R5 of 20 or below, plus English at C6 or better and Maths at D7 or better. Last year most JC courses filled at a net score of 12 or better.
My child's L1R5 is above 20. What now?
Check L1R4 for Millennia Institute and ELR2B2 for poly courses, which accept up to 26. Use all 12 JAE choices, and consider a retake in the 2027 SEC only if a specific goal needs it.
Can my child retake the O-Level?
Not as an O-Level, because 2026 was the last one. A private candidate can retake subjects in the 2027 SEC and combine those grades with the O-Level results for the 2028 PSE.
When are the first SEC results?
MOE expects the first SEC results in mid-January 2028. The 2028 PSE opens that day for six calendar days.
Does an O-Level grade still count after 2027?
Yes. MOE treats an O-Level grade as G3 in the PSE aggregates.
