Best IGCSE Tuition in Singapore (2027): 10 Centres and Tutors Compared

Written and reviewed by Theon Teo, Founder · editorial policy

Ten IGCSE tuition options in Singapore side by side: who teaches Cambridge and Edexcel, published fees turned into a cost per hour, class sizes, branches, trials, and how IGCSE Core and Extended tiers, grades and exam series work.

The best IGCSE tuition depends on the subject, the tier and where you live. For very small groups, Photon Academy near Fort Canning caps IGCSE classes at 4 and teaches the Extended tier with an eye on the IB. For the lowest published group fee, Quintessential Education on Orchard Road charges S$510 a month, about S$73 an hour, and covers ten subjects including the humanities. For the widest subject list, including English as a First or Second Language, Literature and French, Mindlab International on Scotts Road teaches Cambridge and Edexcel. For IGCSE maths in a class of schoolmates, AcesMath in Bukit Timah groups students by school. For IGCSE English 0500 and an east-side base, Young Scholarz is in Tanjong Rhu. For one-to-one lessons at a centre with a published hourly rate, Axiom Education in Holland Village charges S$90 to S$120 an hour. For the lowest published one-to-one rate, Tutor City lists IGCSE home tutors from S$40 an hour.

IGCSE providers quote fees per month, per package of hours or per hour, and lessons run 1.5 to 2 hours. This guide lists each fee exactly as published, then works out a comparable cost per hour. Where something is not published, we say so rather than guess.

How we chose these providers

We searched Google for "igcse tuition singapore", "igcse maths tuition", "igcse chemistry tutor" and "igcse english tuition centre", and noted the providers that rank and the ones other top lists name. We then opened each provider's own website and kept those that pass all four tests below.

  1. Teaches IGCSE by nameThe provider runs IGCSE lessons for Cambridge IGCSE or Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, not only O-Level, SEC or IB.
  2. Publishes its programmeIts own website shows at least one of the fee, subjects, syllabus codes, class size or tutors for IGCSE.
  3. Is active nowIts IGCSE page is live and it lists a current address, contact line or booking form.
  4. Spread of style and priceTogether, the 10 cover small groups, one-to-one at a centre, online tutors and home tutors, at a range of prices.

All facts were checked on 8 November 2026. Fees often change in January, so confirm the current figure before you pay. Nobody paid to appear here. The detail section is in alphabetical order, not a ranking. Some centres also teach the IB Diploma, which our best IB tuition guide covers.

The per-hour figure is our own estimate. We divided the published fee by the published lesson hours. Where a provider does not publish its fee or lesson length, we could not work it out.

The 10 providers in detail

++tutors

What is distinctive. ++tutors is an online tutoring company that runs a Singapore page for IGCSE students at international schools. Lessons are one-to-one in a virtual classroom with a whiteboard and session recordings, timed for Singapore and the August to June school year. Its maths page covers number, algebra and graphs, geometry, trigonometry, statistics and probability, and vectors and transformations, and lists 13 other IGCSE subjects from Accounting to Physics. The site says its tutors include Cambridge examiners and that it accepts the top 10% of applicants.

Suits: a family that wants a one-to-one online tutor and a refund if the first lesson does not work. May not suit: a student who wants a group class or face-to-face lessons.

Fees as published: From S$80 an hour, says its FAQ. Packages are shown from $325 for 5 sessions, $720 for 12 sessions, about $1,100 for 18 sessions plus 1 extra and about $2,200 for 36 sessions plus 3 extra, without a currency or lesson length. A consultation is at no charge, and the page offers a full refund after the first session.

Branches: None in Singapore. The contact address is in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

Website: plusplustutors.com

Ask at the trial: Are the package prices in Singapore dollars, and how long is each session? Has the tutor taught my child's exact syllabus code? Who marks past papers between lessons?

AcesMath

What is distinctive. AcesMath is a Bukit Timah maths centre that teaches IGCSE maths, which it calls A Math and E Math, alongside O-Level, A-Level and IB. Its three teachers are NIE-trained, each with more than 10,000 hours of teaching, says the site. Groups start at 3 and are capped at 12, with students grouped by school, and some subjects are taught one-to-one only. Its FAQ also lists IGCSE Economics and Business. The centre states that 95% of its O-Level and IGCSE students who join from Sec 3 score a distinction, and 87% of those who join from Sec 4.

Suits: an IGCSE maths student who wants a class with schoolmates on the same school order. May not suit: a family that wants to see a fee or the exam board taught before calling, since neither is on the site.

Fees as published: Not published. The site says one-to-one and group classes are priced differently and that missed lessons are not billed. Trial terms are not published.

Branches: 587 Bukit Timah Road, Coronation Plaza #03-14. The nearest MRT is not published.

Website: aces-aspire.com

What does the IGCSE actually test?

Cambridge IGCSE is a qualification for 14 to 16 year olds, with more than 70 subjects to choose from. Cambridge says it aligns the standard with the GCSE taken in England. Assessment comes at the end of the course and can include written papers, orals, coursework and practicals. In Singapore it is taught mainly at international schools and to private candidates. Mainstream schools sit the SEC instead. For subject guides, see our pages on IGCSE Mathematics, IGCSE Chemistry and IGCSE Physics.

Core and Extended tiers. Maths and the sciences are tiered. In Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580), the Core content is for students aiming at grades C to G, and the Extended content includes all of Core plus harder topics, for students aiming at A* to C. The school decides the entry, so ask early in Year 10.

Length and marks1 hour 30 minutes, 80 marks each2 hours, 100 marks each
Weighting50% each50% each
Grades availableC to GA* to E

This syllabus is for exams in 2025, 2026 and 2027. A student entered for Core cannot get above a C, so a student aiming for an A should be on Extended.

Grades: A to G or 9 to 1. Cambridge IGCSE is graded A to G, which Cambridge says is used in over 150 countries and over 6,000 schools. Only schools in Cambridge's administrative zone 3 can choose a 9 to 1 scale instead, and once the entry deadline passes the scale cannot be switched. Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs use 9 to 1 grades, with 9 the top grade. Cambridge says universities treat the two scales equally, though for a GCSE C some UK universities accept a grade 4 and others ask for a 5.

Exam series. Cambridge runs a June series, with exams in May and June, and a November series, with exams in October and November. A March series is offered in India only. Pearson Edexcel runs its International GCSEs in May to June and November.

IGCSE and O-Level or SEC. Singapore's mainstream schools sat the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level up to 2026. From 2027 the O-Level and N-Levels are replaced by the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC), set by SEAB and MOE with Cambridge, and graded A1 to 9 at G3. IGCSE is a separate international qualification with its own syllabuses and grades, so a tutor who knows the SEC or O-Level still needs to know your child's IGCSE syllabus code. Our IGCSE vs O-Level and IB vs A-Level guide compares the routes.

Centre, home tutor or online?

The cheapest hour is usually a group class or a part-time home tutor. The most tailored hour is one-to-one. Here is how the published fees above compare with the IGCSE rates on our rate card, where IGCSE uses the same band as the IB.

PointCentre group classOne-to-one home tutor
Cost per hourAbout S$73 to S$80 for the centres that publish a group feeS$45 to S$60 part-time, S$65 to S$90 full-time, S$90 to S$130 ex-MOE or MOE (our rate card)
Class sizeUp to 4 or 6, by centreOne student

LocationMostly Orchard, Fort Canning, Holland Village and Bukit TimahAt home anywhere in Singapore, or online
Best forA student who keeps up and wants weekly structureA student who is behind, switching schools or boards, or aiming to move from Core to Extended

A worked example: a student at Photon Academy pays S$480 for four 1.5-hour lessons, or S$120 a week. One 1.5-hour lesson a week with a full-time tutor at S$65 to S$90 an hour costs S$97.50 to S$135 a week. Many families keep a group class for maths or a science and add a few one-to-one lessons before mocks or the final papers.

How to choose IGCSE tuition

  1. Find the exact syllabusAsk the school for the board (Cambridge or Edexcel), the syllabus code, for example 0580 or 4MA1, and the grading scale. Tutors teach to the code, not just the subject.
  2. Check the tierAsk whether your child is entered for Core or Extended. A student on Core cannot score above a C in Cambridge maths.
  3. Find the gapLook at the last test or mock. Losing marks on non-calculator papers, long science answers or English writing needs different help.
  4. Ask who is in the classAsk whether the group is one school, one board and one tier, and how many students are in the actual slot.
  5. Compare cost per hourTurn every quote into a cost per hour and add any registration, materials or trial fee. Our table does this for the published fees.
  6. Book one trial, then reviewSome trials are charged and some are not, so ask before you go. If nothing has moved after about 6 to 8 lessons, ask for a plan or switch.

Trial-lesson checklist

  • Has the tutor taught your child's exact syllabus code and board?
  • Is the group all Core or all Extended?
  • Does the class practise the non-calculator paper as well as the calculator paper?
  • For sciences, how are practical and alternative-to-practical questions taught?
  • For English, how is writing marked, with the error named and a fix shown?
  • Does the tutor use past papers for the current syllabus years?
  • How are questions handled between lessons?
  • What does a missed lesson cost, and is there a recording?

Common questions

How much does IGCSE tuition cost in Singapore?

Among the providers we checked on 8 November 2026, published group fees work out to about S$73 to S$80 an hour. Published one-to-one rates run from S$40 an hour for a part-time home tutor to about S$163 an hour for an examiner at a centre.

Which IGCSE tuition centres have the smallest classes?

Photon Academy caps IGCSE groups at 4, and Quintessential Education runs groups of 3 to 6. AcesMath groups range from 3 to 12, and Axiom Education teaches IGCSE one-to-one only.

What is the difference between IGCSE Core and Extended?

Extended covers all the Core content plus harder topics. In Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics, Core papers lead to grades C to G and Extended papers to grades A* to E, so a student aiming for an A needs to be on Extended.

Is IGCSE graded A* to G or 9 to 1?

Cambridge IGCSE is graded A* to G, and only schools in Cambridge's administrative zone 3 can choose 9 to 1 instead. Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs are graded 9 to 1, with 9 the top grade.

When are the IGCSE exams?

Cambridge runs a June series, with exams in May and June, and a November series in October and November. June 2026 IGCSE results came out on 19 August 2026, and November results usually come out in mid-January.

Is IGCSE the same as the O-Level or SEC?

No. The SEC replaces the O-Level for Singapore's mainstream schools from 2027 and is set by SEAB and MOE with Cambridge. IGCSE is an international qualification with its own syllabuses, used by international schools and private candidates.

Which centres teach IGCSE English?

Mindlab International teaches English as a First Language, English as a Second Language and Literature. Young Scholarz runs an English 0500 course, and Tutor City, Tutopiya and TutorChase offer English tutors.

Can a private candidate get IGCSE tuition?

Yes. Mindlab International has a page for private candidates, and online tutors such as Tutopiya and TutorChase teach one-to-one around any timetable. Check how and where your child will sit the exam before choosing a series.

Does a tutor need to know the exact syllabus code?

Yes. Cambridge and Edexcel set different papers, and even within Cambridge, Mathematics 0580 and International Mathematics 0607 differ. Ask any tutor which codes they have taught.

Are these providers paid to be listed?

No. We chose them by the criteria above and took every fact from each provider's own website on 8 November 2026.
