What P6 Math asks for
P6 is the PSLE year. The Math result becomes an Achievement Level: AL1 is 90 marks and above, AL2 is 85 to 89, AL3 is 80 to 84 and AL4 is 75 to 79. The four subject ALs add up to the PSLE Score used for Sec 1 posting, so moving Math up one band lowers the score by one point.
The last new topics, such as algebra, circles and ratio, are taught early in the year. After that P6 is revision and timed papers, with the school prelims before the PSLE. Many marks are lost in the long word problems in Paper 2, where a child skips the model or the working and jumps to an answer.

How do we know which Math topics to fix first?
Ask the tutor to start with a timed paper or your child's recent school tests. The marks lost usually cluster in two or three topics, often fractions, ratio or the long Paper 2 problem sums. Those come first, then timed practice before the school prelim.
