Short answer
The 2026 Secondary 1 posting results are due on Friday 18 December 2026 (tentative), from 9am on the S1 Portal, by SMS or through the primary school. Under Full Subject-Based Banding, the Posting Group sets the starting level for most subjects, and a PSLE AL of 5 or better can let English, Mother Tongue, Maths or Science start at a more demanding level.

Which level can each subject start at?
Pick the Posting Group and enter the PSLE AL for each subject. The checker applies MOE's Full SBB table. The secondary school confirms every level.
Sec 1 subject level checker
Uses MOE’s Full Subject-Based Banding table for the start of Secondary 1. Your child’s secondary school confirms the final levels.
Pick the Posting Group, then enter each subject’s result.
How Sec 1 subject levels are set
Most subjects start at the level of the Posting Group: G3 for Posting Group 3, G2 for 2 and G1 for 1. English, Mother Tongue, Maths and Science can start higher if the PSLE AL in that subject is good enough, and can move up later on secondary school results. Geography, History and Literature in English can move up from Sec 2.
From the 2026 Sec 1 cohort, Higher Mother Tongue is open to any child with AL1 or AL2 in Mother Tongue, or a Distinction or Merit in Higher Mother Tongue, whatever the overall score.

If you want a different school
MOE's appeal page sets out the process for each reason for a transfer, and some schools publish their own appeal process on their websites. Check both soon after the results, as schools have few places left after posting.

What to do before 4 January
- Buy books and uniform from the posted school's list, and try the journey once.
- Keep some reading and Maths going in the holidays.
- If your child will take Maths at G3 or a level above most subjects, preview algebra: it is the biggest change from P6.
- Note which subjects start at which level, so you can watch those results in term 1.
The first term
Weighted assessments start in term 1, so a gap shows early. Watch the first Maths and Science results. If a subject taken at a higher level is a struggle, talk to the teacher before deciding on extra help.

Common questions
When are the 2026 S1 posting results released?
MOE lists Friday 18 December 2026 (tentative). Results are on the S1 Portal from 9am, by SMS, and from the primary school.
Can my child take a subject at a higher level than the Posting Group?
Yes for English, Mother Tongue, Maths and Science. With most subjects at G2, AL5 or better lets a subject start at G3. With most at G1, AL5 or better allows G3 or G2, and AL6 or AL A at Foundation allows G2.
Will my child sit the O-Level?
No. Children entering Sec 1 in 2027 will sit the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC), which grades each subject at G1, G2 or G3.
Can subject levels change after Sec 1 starts?
Yes. Schools can move a subject to a more demanding level based on secondary school results, and Geography, History and Literature in English can move up from Sec 2.
