When the GCE A-Level results come out in February 2027, how to collect them in school or online, what the grades and 70-point UAS mean, how remarks work, and every university, poly and NS step in the six weeks after.
The 2026 GCE A-Level results are expected between 19 and 23 February 2027. Students collect them in school, see them online with Singpass, and can apply to the local universities the same day, with most windows closing on 19 March 2027.
This guide covers results day and the six weeks after it, for students and parents. For the full grade and rank point tables, read our guide to A-Level rank points and the UAS. If you want the bigger picture of JC subjects and levels first, start with the A-Level explained.
When are the A-Level results released?
SEAB lists the 2026 A-Level results release as tentatively Friday 19 February to Tuesday 23 February 2027. It says the actual date can only be confirmed when all processes are complete (SEAB important dates). Last year, MOE confirmed the day on 20 February 2026, one week ahead.
In school. School candidates go back to their junior college or Millennia Institute on results day. The school tells you the time and place.
By proxy. If you cannot go, you can appoint a proxy to collect the physical copy. Tell your school in advance, and make sure your proxy brings the documents the school asks for so it can check them. If you cannot find a proxy, contact the school (SEAB results release).
Online with Singpass. Last year, results were on the SEAB Candidates Portal from 3.15pm on results day until 11pm two weeks later, on 13 March 2026. International students got a username by email two days before results day. Expect the same pattern in 2027.
Private candidates see their results on the Candidates Portal from 3.15pm, using Singpass or the account they made when registering. SEAB posts the certificate within five working days, if at least one subject was passed.
You do not need the paper certificate to apply to university. NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD, SIT and SUSS all take applications online, and MOE confirms a hard copy is not required.

SEAB does not publish the marks needed for each grade, and there is no bell curve. MOE says the national exams are standards-referenced, so if more candidates do better work, more get better grades (MOE parliamentary reply).

How is the UAS out of 70 worked out?
Since the 2025 exam, the UAS is three H2 subjects plus General Paper, out of 70. A fourth content subject and H1 Mother Tongue are added only when they raise the score, and the total is then scaled back to 70 (NUS FAQs on the revised UAS).
Base: 3 H2 + GP, out of 70.
Add the fourth subject (at H1 weight) or H1 Mother Tongue: out of 80, multiply by 70 and divide by 80.
Add both: out of 90, multiply by 70 and divide by 90.
The best of these is your UAS.
Worked example. H2 grades A, A, B. General Paper B. H1 contrasting subject A.
Base: 20 + 20 + 17.5 + 8.75 = 66.25 out of 70.
With the H1 A: 66.25 + 10 = 76.25 out of 80. 76.25 × 70 ÷ 80 = 66.72.
66.72 is higher than 66.25, so the UAS is 66.72.

Select the grade for your three H2 content subjects and H1 General Paper. The University Admission Score is calculated out of 70 under the revised system for admissions from 2026 onward. Add a 4th content subject or H1 Mother Tongue if you took one: it is counted only if it raises the score.

Project Work gives no points, but the universities need a Pass. Students who sat the A-Level in 2024 or earlier and apply for 2026 or 2027 entry are scored on the old 90-point method scaled to 70. From AY2028, everyone is on the 70-point method. Our UAS guide has four more worked examples and the old and new methods side by side.
What do the 2025 results tell us?
10,977 candidates sat the 2025 A-Level exam, and 10,393 of them (94.7%) got at least three H2 passes with a pass in General Paper. This was the first cohort scored on the 70-point UAS (SEAB, 2025 results). The year before, 94.2% of 10,889 candidates did so. SEAB does not publish how many candidates got each grade.
Can A-Level results be remarked?
Yes. SEAB calls it an appeal, and it is a review of the marking plus a full clerical re-check by an independent senior marker who did not mark the script first time.
1Decide quicklyTalk to your subject teacher on results day. The deadline is short and cannot be extended.
2ApplySchool candidates apply through their school. Private candidates apply on the Candidates Portal.
3PayPay the fee for each subject on the Candidates Portal, by PayNow or eNets. SEAB announces the fee on results day, and it includes GST.
4WaitThe outcome comes within six weeks after the appeal deadline, by letter through the school or by email for private candidates.
Deadline: within five working days from and including results day. Last year that meant 27 February to 5 March 2026. In 2027 it is expected to end between Thursday 25 February and Monday 1 March, depending on the results date.
No late applications, and an appeal cannot be withdrawn or refunded once submitted.
If the result changes, SEAB adjusts it and issues a replacement certificate. SEAB does not promise any change, so weigh the fee against how close the mark is likely to be.
Scripts are not returned and no report on performance is given.
Since outcomes arrive after most university windows close, apply to university on your current grades.
What if I lose my A-Level certificate?
SEAB does not replace lost certificates, because they are controlled documents. If you have Singpass, you can get your results in digital form, free, on the MySkillsFuture portal (Skills Passport). You can share them from there, and schools or employers can check them on OpenCerts. If you do not have Singpass, or sat the exam under a different ID number, ask SEAB for a digitised copy. From 1 January 2027, SEAB charges $16 per exam and exam year for a copy it provides (SEAB, past results in digital form).

Accepting an offer: NTU and SUSS list the first acceptance window as 4 January to 24 May 2027 and the second as 1 to 16 June 2027. NUS uses the Joint Acceptance Portal and has not fixed its windows yet. SMU says applicants holding local university offers in the first window must pick one university by its closing date, so compare offers early. Our university admission guide covers programme choices, aptitude-based admissions and interviews.
What grades do NUS, NTU and SMU courses need?
The universities publish the grades of students offered places last year, at the 10th and 90th percentile. Grades are three H2 subjects then one H1, with GP and Project Work assumed C.
These are not cut-offs. From 2026 entry, the H1 subject is no longer in the UAS by default, so SMU and NUS suggest reading the three H2 grades as the guide. SMU notes that ABC/C is broadly the same as BBB/C. Our UAS guide has the longer table.
What does results day mean for National Service?
CMPB says A-Level holders are typically enlisted between January and April, so many boys get their Enlistment Notice, about two months ahead, close to results day. Pre-enlistees cannot choose their enlistment date (CMPB FAQ).
No deferment for a degree. CMPB does not defer NS for degree courses, even ones already started (CMPB deferment).
Apply to university anyway. Boys apply in the same February to March window and take up the place after NS.
Disruption. A boy enlisted later than his school cohort may apply for disruption to start a degree on time, if the offer is unconditional and the university is MOE-funded or awards its own degrees. Apply three months before the disruption date (CMPB disruption).
Repeating the A-Level. A boy who failed GP or KI, or got fewer than three H2 passes in one sitting, can be considered for further deferment to repeat full-time.
What if the A-Level results are poor?
Take a day before deciding anything. Then look at these routes side by side.
Retaking as a private candidate. SEAB will publish the 2027 registration exercise on its private candidate page in March 2027. You must be at least 17 on 1 January of the exam year and can take up to 5 H1 and 3 H2 subjects, or 3 H1 and 4 H2. You register on the Candidates Portal with Singpass. Fees depend on subjects and citizenship, and Edusave cannot be used (SEAB private candidates). Private candidates do not need the Project Work Pass for university. Our retake guide covers study plans and how universities read a second sitting.
Polytechnic. A-Level holders do not use the JAE, which is for O-Level holders. They apply directly to the polytechnics. Last year's window for April matriculation was 25 February to 10 March 2026, with an October intake window in August. A-Level holders can get module exemptions in about 130 courses, which can shorten a diploma by up to a year (SEAB, 2025 results). Singapore Polytechnic lists its April 2027 window as February 2027, opening on results day (SP Direct Admissions Exercise).
Private and overseas degrees. Private institutions in Singapore and overseas universities set their own entry rules and dates, and many accept a wider range of grades. Check that the institution and course are recognised for what your child wants to do next, and compare total costs before paying a deposit.
MOE's ECG Centre ran free online and phone counselling from 23 February to 19 March 2026, on weekdays from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays from 9am to 12pm. Expect similar support around results day in 2027.
How should I talk to my child on results day?
Ask before you look. Let your child decide whether to open the results with you or alone.
React to the person, not the grades. Say you are proud of the two years of work before you mention any number.
Hold the next steps until the evening. The appeal and university deadlines leave a few days, not a few hours.
Compare with routes, not friends. Lay out the options in the table above together.
Watch the boys' NS letter. An Enlistment Notice in the same week adds stress, so plan both together.

What MOE has published for later cohorts:
2028 entry to JC: the first Full Subject-Based Banding cohort sits the new Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) in 2027. In 2028, JC, Millennia Institute, polytechnic and ITE admissions merge into a single Post-Secondary Admissions Exercise (MOE Committee of Supply 2026).
JC entry score: from the 2028 exercise, JC admission moves from L1R5 of 20 or less to L1R4 of 16 or less, and the bonus point cap drops from 4 to 3 (MOE infosheet). Our L1R4 guide explains it.
University scoring: from AY2028, all A-Level applicants, whatever year they sat, are scored on the 70-point method. MOE and SEAB have not announced further changes to the A-Level exam or the UAS for later cohorts.

Common questions
When are the 2026 A-Level results released?
SEAB lists them as tentatively between Friday 19 and Tuesday 23 February 2027, with the exact day confirmed nearer the time. Last year's results came out on Friday 27 February 2026 at 2.30pm.
What time are A-Level results released?
In 2025 and 2026, schools released results at 2.30pm. Online results on the SEAB Candidates Portal followed at 3.15pm.
Can I check my A-Level results online?
Yes. Log in to the SEAB Candidates Portal with Singpass. Last year it stayed open from 3.15pm on results day to 11pm two weeks later.
Can someone collect my A-Level results for me?
Yes. Appoint a proxy, tell your school in advance, and make sure the proxy brings the documents the school asks for.
What is the maximum UAS?
That is three H2 subjects at 20 points each plus General Paper at 10, with the fourth subject and H1 Mother Tongue counted only if they raise the score.
How long do I have to appeal an A-Level grade?
Five working days, counting results day itself. Apply through your school, and pay the per-subject fee on the Candidates Portal.
What happens after I submit a remark?
An independent senior marker reviews the script and re-checks every mark. The outcome comes within six weeks after the deadline, and an appeal cannot be withdrawn or refunded once submitted.
When do university applications close?
NUS, NTU and SUSS close on 19 March 2027. SMU, SUTD and SIT closed on 19 March 2026 last year and are expected to keep a similar date.
Do I need my certificate to apply to university?
No. All six local universities take online applications, and MOE says a hard copy is not required.
I lost my A-Level certificate. Can I get a new one?
No, SEAB does not replace certificates. Download your digital results free from MySkillsFuture with Singpass, or ask SEAB for a digitised copy.
Can boys defer NS to go to university?
No. CMPB does not grant deferment for degree courses. Boys apply in the same window and take up the place after NS, or apply for disruption if they enlisted later than their cohort.
What if I failed my A-Levels?
You can retake as a private candidate, with registration details out in March 2027, or apply directly to a polytechnic for a shorter diploma. Boys who failed GP or got fewer than three H2 passes can be considered for further NS deferment to repeat full-time.
