How applying to Singapore's six autonomous universities works for the 2027 intake: every published window by qualification, how to read last year's grade profiles, the subjects that rule courses in or out, the extra tests for Medicine and Law, and what a degree costs.
The year starts in November, and polytechnic and NUS High students finish applying before JC students have results.

How each university describes its own admission
Each university publishes an indicative grade profile (IGP) every January: the grades at the 10th and 90th percentile of last year's offers. Nine in ten admitted students were at or above the 10th percentile grade.
NUS writes grades as three H2 subjects, then one H1, with GP and Project Work assumed to be C. These rows are copied from its January 2026 table of AY2025/2026 offers.
| NUS programme | 10th percentile | 90th percentile | Places taken up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engineering | BBB/C | AAA/A | 1,259 |
| Humanities and Sciences | ABB/C | AAA/A | 1,976 |
| Business Administration | AAA/C | AAA/A | 914 |
| Common Computer Science Programmes | AAA/A | AAA/A | 893 |
| Nursing (interview) | CCD/C | ABB/B | 343 |
| Medicine (interview and test) | AAA/A | AAA/A | 286 |
A wide spread, like Engineering's, means a BBB student is competitive. Where both ends are AAA/A, as for Computer Science and Medicine, one B is a real risk. Interview courses can admit lower grades, because the interview counts too.
One caution. The 2026 intake was the first scored out of 70, and NUS says no profile exists yet for the new score, so read only the three H2 grades. NUS does not publish profiles for IB or NUS High students, as numbers are small.
A strong score cannot cover a missing prerequisite. These are NUS's A-Level rules as of December 2025. Other universities set their own.
| NUS programme | A-Level subject requirement |
|---|---|
| Engineering, Business Analytics | H2 pass in Mathematics or Further Mathematics |
| Common Computer Science Programmes | H2 pass in Computing, Mathematics, Further Mathematics or Physics, or a good pass in H1 Mathematics |
| Business Administration | H1 pass in Mathematics, or a pass in O-Level Additional Mathematics |
| Pharmacy | Very good passes in H2 Chemistry and in H2 Biology, Physics, Mathematics or Further Mathematics |
| Medicine and Dentistry | H2 pass in Chemistry and either Biology or Physics |
| Law | At least a B in GP, or an E in GP plus a SAT Reading and Writing score of 700 |
So JC1 subject choice matters: without H2 Mathematics, NUS Engineering is closed. Our A-Level explained guide covers combinations.
The UCAT comes early: for the 2026 intake NTU wanted it sat by 26 September 2025, during JC2.
Aptitude-based admission (ABA) weighs interest, talent and preparation alongside grades. It is not a back door: NTU still requires a minimum level of academic competence.
MOE set out the rules in January 2020. NUS, NTU and SMU had been allowed to admit up to 15% of each intake under the old Discretionary Admissions scheme. That scheme ended from the AY2020 exercise, and the three widened aptitude-based assessment instead. SUTD, SIT and SUSS already used it for every student. MOE gave no new percentage, and each university sets its own measures above MOE's minimum criteria.
NUS's own examples include olympiad medals, representing Singapore, sustained volunteering and a relevant internship.
These NUS fees, after the MOE Tuition Grant, stay fixed for the course for the AY2026/2027 intake. Without the grant, Engineering costs S$39,700 a year. Grant holders who are PRs or international students must work for a Singapore entity for three years after graduating.
NUS opens on the late afternoon of 18 February 2027 and NTU on results day, and both close on 19 March 2027. SUSS is open from 19 November 2026 to the same deadline.
All six, each with its own form and fee. SUSS allows up to four ranked choices and SIT up to five.
No. It shows last year's 10th and 90th percentile offers, including aptitude-based ones. Some students below the 10th percentile get in.
Yes. NUS takes the first five semesters for students graduating in 2027, and the offer depends on the final results.
NUS can admit you provisionally if you meet everything else, but you must fulfil the requirement before you graduate.
Yes, in set windows. NTU's runs from 17 to 30 May 2027 and SUSS's from 1 April to 28 May 2027. Successful appeals are accepted from 1 to 16 June.
