Best Math Olympiad Classes in Singapore (2027): 10 Compared

Written and reviewed by Theon Teo, Founder · editorial policy

We compared 10 maths olympiad and competition maths classes in Singapore using only what each centre publishes, read on 8 November 2026. Fees per hour, class sizes, branches, trials, and how SMO, RMO, NMOS, APMOPS and SASMO entry really works, with DSA and GEP in context.

The best maths olympiad class depends on your child's age and goal. For a long-running primary olympiad programme with a set term structure, look at Terry Chew Academy or The Math Classroom. For SMO at secondary and junior college, Coco Education runs separate Junior, Senior and Open classes and Mathlete runs classes up to Sec 4 plus a national team class. For the smallest groups, NickleBee Tutors caps classes at 4, though its 2027 olympiad cohort is already full. For the most branches, Think Academy has five, from Clementi to Marine Parade. In the west and east, Maths Hub has centres at Bukit Batok and Tampines. The lowest published fees are Maths Hub at about S$34 an hour for P2 and P3 and Mathlete at about S$35 an hour for its 2-hour classes.

How we chose these centres

We started from the centres that rank on Google for "math olympiad classes Singapore", "maths olympiad training Singapore", "SMO preparation" and "RMO SASMO class", and the names that recur on the top comparison pages and parent forums. From those we kept centres that met four tests.

  1. Competition maths is a named programme. Each runs olympiad or competition classes that name the contests they train for, not just "advanced" school maths.
  2. Publishes its programme. Levels, contests and a branch or online format are on its own site, so you can check them.
  3. Active for 2027. Each shows a 2026 or 2027 schedule, current branches or 2027 intake.
  4. A spread of needs. We wanted lower primary starters, P5 and P6 contest years, secondary SMO, online options and a range of prices.

The order below is not a ranking. Where a centre does not publish a fact, we say "not published". We left out Google ratings because we could not read a dated rating for every centre from a source we opened, and a partial set would not compare fairly. We also left out time-limited offers and discounted prices, and quote standard fees only.

The 10 classes in detail

Terry Chew Academy

What is distinctive. An olympiad centre led by Terry Chew, author of a series of olympiad problem books. Its GEP and Junior Olympiad track covers K2 to P6 and names Kangaroo, SASMO, SEAMO, RMO, APMOPS, SMOPS and NMOS, plus GEP and DSA preparation. Its Senior Math Olympiad track for S1 to S3 covers SMO Junior and Senior, AMC 8 and 10 and SEAMO. Classes are grouped by ability, run 12 weekly lessons a term, and the site states a no-homework policy.

Suits: a primary child who enjoys puzzles and will benefit from a steady weekly class over several years. Less suited to: a Sec 4 or JC student aiming at SMO Open, as the senior track stops at S3.

Fees as published: S$960 a term for 12 lessons, with higher-level classes possibly more. Fees are subject to prevailing GST. A new student pays a S$70 registration fee and a S$100 deposit, refundable with 30 days' notice. One trial lesson is at no charge. A minimum of one term applies.

Branch and nearest MRT (our reading of the address): Goldhill Shopping Centre, 167A Thomson Road (Novena). One-to-one coaching is online only.

Website: terrychew.com.sg

Ask at the trial: Which class level is my child placed in, and why? How long is each lesson at this level? Which contests does this class aim at in 2027?

Maths Hub

What is distinctive. A maths and science centre whose competition track, Fusion Math, runs nine levels from P2 to S4. Its 2027 Semester 1 schedule lists 20-lesson courses from January to May 2027, and the P5 classes name NMOS, APMOPS, RMO and Mathlympics while P6 names APMOPS and RMO. Some P5 and P6 classes are by instructor recommendation only, and there are Zoom classes at P3 and P4.

Suits: a P2 to P6 child in the west or east who wants a long semester at a low hourly fee. Less suited to: parents who want class size and trial terms up front, as neither is published.

Fees as published (2027 Semester 1, Bukit Batok): P2 and P3 S$1,200 for 20 lessons, P4 S$1,300, and P5, P6, S1 and S2 S$1,400. Each lesson is 1 hour 45 minutes. Zoom classes are S$1,080 (P3) and S$1,170 (P4) for 18 lessons. GST, registration and materials are not stated.

Branches and nearest MRT: Bukit Batok East Avenue 5 (Bukit Batok, about a 7-minute walk, as the centre states) and Tampines Street 45 (Tampines East, 5 to 10 minutes from Exit D, as the centre states).

Website: mathshub.com.sg

Ask at the trial: How many children are in the class? How does a child move into a recommended class? Are the same courses run at Tampines?

Mathlete Training Centre

What is distinctive. An olympiad-only centre whose principal teacher, Mr Wu, has taken part in the IMO twice and attended twice as an observer, as the centre states. Its 2026 schedule runs from K2 through every primary and secondary level, with Introductory, Advance and Elite classes at secondary and a 3-hour national team class. Classes are online or at the centre, and recorded lecture videos are available.

Suits: a strong secondary student who wants to train towards SMO at a low fee, or a family that prefers online classes. Less suited to: a child who wants to try a class first, as there is no trial, and a child who needs a small online group.

Fees as published: S$60 per 1.5-hour lesson and S$70 per 2-hour lesson, by level and teacher, and S$90 for the 3-hour national team class. A deposit of 4 lessons is non-refundable and covers the last 4 lessons after one month's notice. New students sit an entry test before registering. Recorded video courses are sold separately.

Branch and nearest MRT: Bishan Street 23 (Bishan, as the centre states).

Website: mathletetraining.com

Ask at the entry test: Which class and teacher does the result point to? Is the class online or at the centre? Will there be a 2027 schedule with the same fees?

The Math Classroom

What is distinctive. A centre with separate School Math, Competition Math and DSA Math programmes. Its olympiad training names SMOPS, SMO, SASMO and AMC, and covers number theory, algebra, geometry, combinatorics and logical reasoning at primary and secondary levels. All lessons are 2 hours once a week, on-site in level-based or small-group classes, or online from P3.

Suits: a P5 or P6 child heading for DSA who needs olympiad work and DSA preparation from one centre. Less suited to: families looking for the lowest hourly fee.

Fees as published: on-site classes from S$123 per 2-hour lesson and online classes from S$98. There is a S$50 registration fee, and term packages are available. The fees page lists the trial at S$95 on-site and S$75 online, while the location page shows S$80 for a full 2-hour trial, so confirm the price when you book.

Branches and nearest MRT (our reading of the address): Coronation Plaza, 587 Bukit Timah Road, and Roxy Square, 50 East Coast Road in Katong.

Website: themathclassroom.com.sg

Ask at the trial: Is my child better in a level-based or small-group class? How many children are in the class? How is the DSA Math programme linked to the competition classes?

Think Academy

What is distinctive. A maths enrichment school with five branches that publishes a 2027 course system from K1 to Sec 1. At P5 it runs three tracks: PSLE Math, Math High Achiever, and a Competition Class aimed at NMOS, RMO and APMOPS, which covers number theory, geometry, counting, combinatorics and logic. Its 2027 fee table sets every primary olympiad lesson at 2 hours.

Suits: a younger child starting competition maths from kindergarten or lower primary, or a family who wants a branch nearby. Less suited to: a child who needs a small group, as classes take 15 from P3, or a secondary student past Sec 1.

Fees as published (2027 Terms 1 and 2): Math Olympiad Competition classes are S$100 per 2-hour lesson at P1 to P3 and S$120 at P4 to P6, with Kindergarten classes at S$75 for 90 minutes. Prices exclude GST, and there is a S$30 material fee a term. Terms run 9, 10, 13 and 11 lessons. Trial terms are not published, and the site invites parents to book an assessment.

Branches and nearest MRT (our reading of the address): The Heeren on Orchard Road (Somerset), Novena Square 2 (Novena), Parkway Parade (Marine Parade), Clementi Avenue 3 (Clementi) and Grantral Mall on MacPherson Road (Tai Seng).

Website: thinkacademy.sg

Ask at the trial: Should my child join High Achiever or the Competition Class? How many children are in the class now? Is the class taught in English throughout?

Coco Education

What is distinctive. A centre with a full competition ladder. Primary Competition Math runs from P1 and names NMOS, APMOPS, RMO, SASMO and Kangaroo, plus GEP and DSA maths. Secondary Competition Math trains for SMO Junior, Senior and Open, with separate Elite and Mainstream classes at each level from SMOS1 to SMOS4 and an SMO Open class.

Suits: a secondary student who wants a class matched to their SMO section, or a primary child moving through levels. Less suited to: families who want class size and trial terms before enrolling, as neither is published.

Fees as published (July 2026 batch): primary competition classes are mostly S$1,440 for 18 lessons, with some P5 and P6 classes at S$1,800. Secondary SMO classes are S$1,800 for 18 lessons. Each lesson is 1 hour 45 minutes. Registration, deposit and GST are not published.

Venues and nearest MRT (our reading of the address): Leng Kee Community Club, 400 Lengkok Bahru (Redhill), plus Serangoon and Kovan venues named on the schedule whose addresses were not on the contact page. Some classes run on Zoom.

Website: sgcocoedu.com

Ask at the trial: Is my child Elite or Mainstream, and how is that decided? Where exactly are the Serangoon and Kovan classes? What are the 2027 dates and fees?

NickleBee Tutors

What is distinctive. A small-group centre where Mr Zhou teaches a 9-month Olympiad Math course for P5 and P6, aimed at NMOS, APMOPS and RMO, and a P6 DSA Math course on portfolios, selection tests, camps and interviews. Classes have at most 4 students. The centre states that all its 2025 olympiad students achieved gold, high distinction or better.

Suits: a strong P5 child who wants close attention in a tiny group and DSA preparation in P6. Less suited to: families on a budget, and anyone hoping to join soon, as the 2027 cohort is full and the 2027 DSA workshops are booked.

Fees as published: S$275 per 2-hour class or S$2,750 for a 10-lesson term, on the page that also lists olympiad classes. There is a S$100 admin fee for new students, non-refundable. Trial terms are not published. Entry is by test and waitlist.

Branches and nearest MRT (our reading of the address): Bishan Street 22 (Bishan), Dunearn Village Shopping Mall at 896 Dunearn Road (Bukit Timah) and Compassvale Drive (Sengkang).

Website: nicklebeetutors.com

Ask before applying: When does the 2028 cohort open, and what is on the entry test? Which branch runs the olympiad class? Does the term fee cover both olympiad and DSA work in P6?

Avocado Lab

What is distinctive. A maths and science centre near Bukit Timah with weekly Math Olympiad classes from P3 to P6, and S1 and S2 classes that combine olympiad maths with World Scholar's Cup preparation. Most lessons are 2 hours, and the P6 class is a 4-hour Saturday session. The centre states that 92% of its Math Olympiad students scored AL1 in PSLE Maths in 2024.

Suits: a child who does better in a small class and lives in the Bukit Timah area. Less suited to: families who want fees in writing before they call.

Fees as published: not published. A trial class is offered, cost not published. The centre says most classes have five or six students and some up to twelve.

Branch and nearest MRT (our reading of the address): Guthrie House, 1 Fifth Avenue (Sixth Avenue).

Website: avocadolab.sg

Ask at the trial: What is the term fee? How many children are in this olympiad class? Which contests does the P5 class aim at?

Global Education Hub

What is distinctive. A centre that trains for primary contests (NMOS, APMOPS, RMO, AMC, SASMO and SMKC) and secondary contests (SASMO, SMO and AMC 8, 10 and 12), in small groups or one-to-one. It also runs science olympiad training.

Suits: a family who wants the choice of a group or a one-to-one coach at the same centre, or a child doing both maths and science olympiads. Less suited to: parents comparing prices online, as fees, class size and lesson length are not published.

Fees as published: not published. The site offers a consultation at no charge.

Branch and nearest MRT (our reading of the address): Goldhill Plaza, 1 Goldhill Plaza (Novena).

Website: globaledu.com.sg

Ask at the consultation: What is the fee for a group and for one-to-one? How long are lessons and how big are groups? Which contests does each level aim at?

PD-STEM

What is distinctive. An olympiad tutoring business focused on SMO, offering one-to-one lessons, group lessons and crash courses. It states that its tutors are olympiad medallists. Its page explains the SMO sections, Junior for Sec 1 and 2, Senior for Sec 3 and 4, and Open from Sec 1 to JC 2.

Suits: a secondary or JC student who wants SMO coaching, including a short crash course before June. Less suited to: primary pupils, or families who want a centre address and fees on the website.

Fees as published: not published. Address not published. Contact is by WhatsApp, Telegram or email.

Website: pd-stem.com

Ask first: Who would teach my child, and what are their own competition results? Where are group lessons held? What does a crash course cost?

A few details matter for planning.

  • SMO format. Round 1 is a 2.5-hour paper for every section. The top 10% of Junior and Senior go to Round 2, a 3-hour paper for Junior and a 4-hour paper for Senior and Open, held at NUS. For 2026, Junior was for students born on or after 2 January 2012 and Senior on or after 2 January 2010.
  • RMO format. Round 1 is 20 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, online at the child's own school. The top students sit a 60-minute written Round 2 at Raffles Institution. RMO was formerly the RI Primary Mathematics World Contest (RIPMWC).
  • NMOS format. One 90-minute paper of 35 questions, 80 marks in total, with no calculators.
  • APMOPS format. Round 1 is 30 questions in 2 hours for 150 marks. The top 50 Singapore P6 pupils are invited to a 2-hour Invitation Round of 14 harder questions, two of which need full working. Several centres above also list SMOPS, so check with your child's school which contest name it uses.
  • SASMO results. SIMCC says results come out 2 weeks after the last Singapore contest date, and P6 pupils who need them for DSA can email for an early release.
  1. Feb 2027 (expected)Primary sign-ups closeAPMOPS P5 parent registration closed 15 Feb 2026 and P6 school entry 28 Feb 2026. NMOS school registration ran to 20 Mar 2026.
  2. Mar to Apr 2027 (expected)SASMO, RMO, APMOPS Round 1In 2026, APMOPS Round 1 ran on 16 and 18 Apr and RMO listed its first date as 9 Apr.
  3. May 2027 (expected)RMO, APMOPS Invitation Round, DSA opens2026: RMO second date 7 May, APMOPS Invitation Round 30 May, DSA-Sec applications from 6 May.
  4. Jun 2027 (expected)SMO Round 1 and Round 22026: Round 1 on 3 and 4 Jun, Round 2 on 27 Jun and 4 Jul.
  5. Jul 2027 (expected)NMOS2026: 14 Jul, P5 only.

Because most primary contests take entries only through schools, ask your child's maths teacher early in Term 1 who is being put forward. A class at a centre cannot enter your child for RMO or NMOS.

Olympiad maths, DSA and GEP

DSA. Through Direct School Admission, a P6 pupil can apply to a secondary school on a talent, and MOE lists science, maths and engineering among the talent areas. In 2026 applications ran from 6 May to 2 June, and schools sent outcomes by 28 August. Each child can make up to 3 choices, and can add up to 10 achievements from outside school, such as competition awards. Selection differs by school, and MOE says meeting a school's criteria does not guarantee a shortlist or an offer. Schools use interviews, trials and their own tests, and a child with a Confirmed Offer still needs a PSLE score in a posting group the school offers, or 22 or better for an Integrated Programme. Expect the 2027 window in early May to early June, based on 2026. Our DSA guide covers the full process, and our specialised schools guide covers schools such as NUS High.

GEP. The old Gifted Education Programme test has been replaced. From 2026, P3 pupils who opt in are identified in Term 3 through English and maths, with teacher observations, and those identified take centre-based modules from P4. MOE describes the modules as enrichment that is de-linked from the PSLE, and has said that rushing ahead may do more harm than good. Our GEP replacement guide explains the new approach.

What results do and do not do. A competition award is one piece of evidence a school may look at. No contest result guarantees a DSA offer or a GEP place, and no centre can promise one. The best reason to do olympiad maths is that your child enjoys hard problems.

Most olympiad centres run classes rather than one-to-one lessons, and some, such as Terry Chew Academy, offer one-to-one only online. A one-to-one tutor is often the better first step for a child who is not yet secure in school maths, because olympiad problems build on fast, confident heuristics. Our PSLE heuristics guide shows the methods that olympiad work extends, and our pricing page has the full TSS rate card.

How to choose

  1. Check the foundationsIf school maths is not yet solid, fix that first. Olympiad problems assume fast, accurate heuristics.
  2. Pick the contest and the yearP5 is the year for NMOS, P6 for RMO Open and APMOPS, and SMO starts at Sec 1. Work back from the contest your child will actually sit.
  3. Ask the school about entryRMO, NMOS and SMO take entries only through schools. Find out early who is put forward.
  4. Work out the true costDivide the term fee by lessons and hours, then add registration, deposit, materials and GST.
  5. Use the trial or entry testWatch how the teacher handles a wrong answer, and whether your child leaves curious or deflated.

At the trial, check these five things:

CheckA good answer looks like
PlacementA clear reason for the level, from a test or the trial lesson
ExplanationThe teacher asks the child to explain a method, not just give an answer
Topic planNumber theory, geometry, combinatorics and logic over the year, not just past papers
Contest timingPractice papers timed to the real contest, for example 2.5 hours for SMO Round 1
BalanceHomework that fits alongside school work and CCA

A warning sign is any promise of a medal, a DSA offer or a GEP place. A centre teaching 10 or more students should appear in MOE's private schools search, though registration is not a mark of quality.

If one-to-one sounds right, tell us your child's level and goal. Our maths tuition page explains how we match maths tutors, and our best PSLE Maths tuition centres comparison covers school maths classes.

Common questions

Which is the best maths olympiad class in Singapore?

It depends on your child's age and goal. From our comparison, Terry Chew Academy and The Math Classroom suit primary olympiad work, Coco Education and Mathlete cover SMO at secondary, and Maths Hub and Mathlete have the lowest published hourly fees.

How much do maths olympiad classes cost in Singapore?

From the fees we read on 8 November 2026, group olympiad classes cost about S$30 to S$62 per hour. One small-group class of up to 4 costs about S$138 an hour, and three of the 10 centres do not publish fees.

What age should my child start maths olympiad classes?

Several centres start at K1 or K2, but most Singapore contests begin at P4 or P5. Many families start a year or two before the contest year, once school maths is secure.

Can I register my child for RMO or NMOS myself?

No. Both take entries only through your child's primary school. APMOPS lets parents register P5 pupils, and SASMO accepts private candidates.

When is SMO 2027?

Not yet published. In 2026, Round 1 was on 3 June for Junior and Senior and 4 June for Open, so early June 2027 is expected.

Does a maths olympiad medal help with DSA?

A competition award can be listed in a DSA application, but schools select through their own interviews and tests. MOE says meeting a school's criteria does not guarantee an offer.

Is olympiad maths the same as GEP preparation?

No. The GEP test has been replaced by P3 identification through English and maths with teacher observations, and MOE describes its modules as enrichment de-linked from the PSLE.

What is the difference between NMOS, RMO and APMOPS?

NMOS is a single 90-minute paper for P5 only. RMO has Junior (P4 and P5) and Open (P6) categories over two rounds. APMOPS is for P6 and Singapore P5, with an Invitation Round for the top 50 Singapore P6 pupils.

Are online maths olympiad classes worth it?

They can be, for a child who concentrates well on screen. Mathlete, The Math Classroom and some Maths Hub and Coco classes run online, and no centre here has a branch in the north.

How much is one-to-one maths tuition through TSS?

From our rate card, S$25 to S$70 an hour at P1 to P4, S$30 to S$80 at P5 and P6 and S$35 to S$95 at Sec 3 and 4, by tutor type. The first lesson is a paid trial at the tutor's rate.
