I am a Psychology graduate from NUS, and I have been tutoring for 5 years. I teach E-Math and Science to Secondary 3 students.

How I teach

My Psychology degree shapes how I teach. I look at how students take in information, remember it and build confidence. So I teach the subject and I also teach students how to learn well, using techniques from cognitive psychology.

I put a lot of weight on the relationship between student and tutor. I build rapport and trust so that students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. My psychology background helps me notice when anxiety or low motivation is getting in the way, and I work on building confidence alongside the content.

I link Math and Science topics to real-world examples, so that abstract ideas are more concrete and easier to remember.
