PSLE
Primary School Leaving Examination
The PSLE is Singapore's national end-of-primary-school examination, taken by Primary 6 students at age 12. It is administered by SEAB (Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board) on behalf of MOE (Ministry of Education).
In context
PSLE results determine secondary-school posting through a centralised choice-and-cut-off system. Since 2021, PSLE scores are reported as a sum of Achievement Levels (AL) across four subjects: English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Science. Each subject is scored AL1 (best) to AL8 (worst); the lower the total AL score, the better the secondary-school options.
