H1 / H2 / H3 (A-Level)
A-Level subject depth tiers
H1, H2 and H3 are the three depth tiers of GCE A-Level subjects in Singapore. H1 is roughly half the curriculum of H2; H3 is an advanced add-on taken on top of H2 by stronger students.
In context
Most JC students take 3 H2 subjects + 1 H1 contrasting subject + General Paper (compulsory H1) + Project Work. Common combinations: PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Math), BCM (Biology, Chemistry, Math), Triple Sciences, or Arts streams (Econs, Lit, History, Geog). H3 is offered in select subjects (e.g. H3 Math, H3 Chemistry, H3 Economics) and is typically taken in JC2 alongside the H2 subject.
