NIE
National Institute of Education
NIE is Singapore's only teacher-training institution, part of Nanyang Technological University. All Singapore MOE teachers complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or a Bachelor of Arts/Science with Education at NIE.
In context
An 'NIE-trained' tutor has completed PGDE or BA/BSc(Ed) at NIE, the same training as MOE teachers. Many full-time Singapore tutors are ex-MOE teachers who also hold the NIE qualification.
