The 2026 N-Level results are due between 17 and 21 December 2026 (tentative), the last for school candidates. N(A) students can go on to Sec 5 and sit the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) in 2027, or apply for the PFP, the DPP or ITE. N(T) students apply to ITE Higher Nitec courses.
Updated 26 October 2026. Every rule below is from MOE and SEAB pages read that day. MOE had not yet published the 2026 application dates, so the dates shown are last year's, marked as such.
The 2026 N-Level cohort is the last of its kind, and the first to go into Sec 5 under the new national exam. This guide sets out every route after the results, who qualifies, and when each decision is due, so you can plan the week before Christmas calmly.
When are the 2026 N-Level results released?
MOE's national examinations dates page gives a tentative window of Thursday 17 December to Monday 21 December 2026 for the 2026 GCE N(A) and N(T)-Level results. Your child's school will say how and when to collect them.
They are the final N-Level results for school candidates. SEAB's N(A)-Level page says that from the 2027 graduating cohort, students sit the SEC instead. Our SEC 2027 guide explains the new exam.

These are the entry rules MOE published for the 2025 N-Level cohort, the latest available on 26 October 2026. In 2025, MOE restated them in its results-day press release, so check that release in December. The sources are MOE's N(A) course page, the 2025 N-Level results release and MOE's admissions page for N-Level students.
How is ELMAB3 worked out?
ELMAB3 adds English Language, Mathematics and the best three other subjects, on the N(A) scale where Grade 1 is best. For Sec 5, the PFP and the DPP, eligibility uses the raw score, without CCA bonus points.
Students who took some subjects at O-Level can convert those grades:
O-Level grade
Counts as
A1 to B3
1
B4 to C6
2
D7
3
E8
4
If the same subject was taken at both levels, the better grade is used. For the DPP, an O-Level F9 counts as 5. For the PFP, a 9 does not count at all. In 2025, MOE said schools also looked at combined N(A)-Level and school-based O-Level preliminary exam results when deciding who could progress to Sec 5.
Who qualifies for Sec 5 after the N-Level?
MOE's Full SBB FAQ says students who entered Secondary 1 N(A) in 2023 and are eligible can take the fifth year in 2027, and will sit the SEC in 2027. For the 2025 cohort, MOE's results release set the bar at a raw ELMAB3 of 19 or better, with at least Grade 5 in every subject used. MOE had not restated it for 2026 when we checked.

About three in four N(A) candidates have qualified each year, so for most families the question is not whether Sec 5 is open but whether it is the best route.
What that means in practice:
SEC results come in mid-January 2028, and the next step is the 2028 Post-Secondary Admissions Exercise (PSE), not the JAE.
Results from two exam years can be combined. MOE's PSE page says applicants can combine results from up to two examination years of SEC, GCE N or O-Level, or both.
The 2028 rules are different. For example, polytechnic admission from 2028 uses a net ELR2B2 of 22 or better, with one G2 subject allowed. Our poly cut-off points guide explains it.
Whether there is a Sec 5 at all in 2027 is answered in our SEC 2027 guide. This page is about the decision in results week.
How G2 and G1 grades work from 2027
A student who goes on to Sec 5 sits the SEC, where subjects are taken at G1, G2 or G3. SEAB says the papers keep the same format and standard as the N(T), N(A) and O-Level papers, and the same grade scales: G1 from A to E, G2 from 1 to 6, and G3 from A1 to 9. A G2 subject is certified at Grade 5 or better and a G1 subject at Grade D or better.
When a stronger grade is counted in a lower-level aggregate, MOE maps it down. This is the same mapping the ELMAB3 table above uses.

Not every route accepts every grade. A G3 grade 9 and G2 grades 5 and 6 cannot be used for the PFP or polytechnic aggregates, while ITE aggregates can include them but not use them to meet a subject's minimum grade.
Routes in the 2028 PSE, by SEC subject mix
For a student in Sec 5 in 2027, the next step is the 2028 Post-Secondary Admissions Exercise. These are MOE's published routes for that exercise:
2028 routes by SEC subject mix
Five subjects at G3JC (gross L1R4 of 16 or better) or Millennia Institute (20 or better)
Four G3 subjects and one at G2Polytechnic Year 1 (net ELR2B2 of 22 or better, Nursing 24)
Five subjects at G2 or abovePFP (ELMAB3 of 12 or better at G2) or ITE 2-year Higher Nitec (19 or better)
Four subjects at G1 or aboveITE 3-year Higher Nitec, by each course's requirements
MOE also says the PFP could take around 2,600 students a year from AY2028 if every newly eligible student chooses it, up from about 600 admitted today.
What is the PFP and who qualifies?
The Polytechnic Foundation Programme is a one-year programme at a polytechnic, offered as an alternative to Sec 5. From AY2026, students are admitted to one of three broad clusters and move into a diploma in that cluster after passing every PFP module:
Sciences
Humanities, Art, Media and Business
Design, Engineering and Technology
A few specialised courses, such as Nursing, still admit by diploma.
Applications open on O-Level results day in January, and grades from any subjects taken at O-Level can be converted and counted. In 2025, MOE asked PFP applicants to start Sec 5 on 2 January and attend until the end of January while waiting for the outcome. For AY2026, MOE said the polytechnics would offer about 2,000 PFP places in total.
What is the DPP?
The Direct-Entry-Scheme to Polytechnic Programme is a 2-year Higher Nitec course at ITE, also an alternative to Sec 5. Students who finish with the minimum Grade Point Average are guaranteed a place in a polytechnic diploma mapped to their Higher Nitec.

For applied sciences, engineering and ICT, MOE adds that DPP graduates also need to pass a Mathematics elective at ITE or hold at least a C for O-Level Mathematics.
This is the last DPP intake. MOE's Full SBB FAQ says the DPP will cease from the AY2028 ITE intake, so the 2026 N(A) cohort, applying for AY2027, is the final group that can use it. From 2028, students with G2 subjects can still enter a 2-year Higher Nitec with their SEC grades.
DPP applications open right after the N-Level results, before the O-Level results, and there is a second, final phase after the O-Level results. MOE said about 1,200 DPP places were offered across the three ITE colleges for AY2026.
What are the options for N(T) students?
MOE's 2025 results release lists three routes:
ITE 3-year Higher Nitec, applied for through the Joint Intake Exercise. MOE says that as of AY2026, all Nitec courses have moved to this 3-year structure leading to a Higher Nitec.
ITE 4-year Higher Nitec with Enhanced Foundation Programme, for students with 0 or 1 passes. It starts with a preparatory year.
Lateral transfer to Sec 4 N(A), which in 2025 schools could allow with Grade A in both English and Mathematics and Grade B or better in one other subject at the N(T)-Level.
MOE has not said how a lateral transfer works for 2027, when Sec 4 students sit the SEC, so ask your child's school before counting on it.
What are the key dates?
MOE had not published the 2026 dates for the DPP, PFP or JIE when we checked on 26 October 2026. This was last year's pattern, from MOE's DPP, PFP and JIE pages:
18 December 2025N-Level results2pm

Expect a similar order for 2026 results: ITE and DPP decisions within days of the N-Level results, and PFP decisions after the 2026 O-Level results on 13 to 15 January 2027 (tentative). We will add the confirmed dates when MOE publishes them. For one-to-one advice, the ECG Centre @ MOE offers online or phone counselling, and your child's ECG counsellor at school can help too.

Sec 5 keeps the most doors open, including JC, but it means a national exam in 2027 under new rules. If your child chooses Sec 5, the subjects they take at G3 decide which 2028 routes open up, and the mid-January 2028 results come quickly. We arrange SEC tuition for G2 and G3 subjects, including E-Math, at home or online, from January.
Common questions
When are the 2026 N-Level results released?
Between Thursday 17 December and Monday 21 December 2026, according to MOE's tentative dates. Schools confirm the exact day and collection arrangements.
Is 2026 the last N-Level?
Yes, for school candidates. SEAB says that from the 2027 graduating cohort, students sit the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC).
Is 2026 the last year for the DPP?
Yes. MOE says the DPP will cease from the AY2028 ITE intake, so students with 2026 N-Level results, applying for AY2027, are the last to use it.
What ELMAB3 do you need for Sec 5?
A raw ELMAB3 of 19 points or better, without CCA bonus points, and at least Grade 5 in every subject used in the ELMAB3.
What ELMAB3 do you need for the PFP?
A raw ELMAB3 of 12 points or better, with Grade 3 or better in English, Mathematics and one relevant subject, and Grade 4 or better in the other two subjects.
Do CCA bonus points count for Sec 5, PFP or DPP eligibility?
No. Eligibility uses the raw ELMAB3 without CCA bonus points. For the PFP and the DPP, MOE says CCA bonus points are then taken into account for posting.
