Part-time tutor jobs for university students and graduates

Tutoring fits around lectures, exams and a day job. You choose the subjects, the area and the hours. Many families book tutors for the new school year in November and December, so the holidays are a good time to start.

Free to sign up. No NRIC or bank details on the form.

What families ask for

  • A tutor who did well in the subject recently and knows how the exam is marked.
  • The same lesson slot every week, through the school year and not only before exams.
  • JC and IB subjects, Chinese, Malay and Tamil, and secondary sciences, which we often need more tutors for.

Fitting tutoring around your studies

  • Most lessons are 1.5 to 2 hours, once or twice a week, at the student's home or online. Plan for travel time too.
  • Before you say yes to an assignment, check the slot still works when your timetable changes next semester.
  • When a family picks you, you are asked how long you can teach their child. The minimum is 3 months.
  • For exam weeks, tell the family early and offer a make-up lesson. The tutor agreement asks for 24 hours' notice to move a lesson.

Questions tutors ask

Can I tutor while I study full-time?

Yes. Take only the assignments with slots that fit your timetable, and say no to the rest. Nothing is assigned without your yes.

Do I need teaching experience?

No. Tutoring friends, relatives, juniors or volunteer work counts as experience on the form. Your own results and a clear bio matter most.

What if I need to stop tutoring?

Tell the family and TSS early. To stop teaching a student, the tutor agreement asks for at least 2 weeks' notice, so the family has time to find another tutor.

I am not a Singapore Citizen or PR. Can I sign up?

Check with the Ministry of Manpower first whether your pass allows you to give private tuition.

Ready to take on students?
