What Singapore families pay for home tuition
Across 182 home tuition placements we made in 2026, families paid a median of S$40 an hour, and half of them paid between S$35 and S$50. 78% of trial lessons turned into regular tuition. These are real rates agreed by real families from 10 January 2026 to 26 September 2026, not advertised price ranges.
Rates by school level
The rate is what the family pays per hour, all-in. “Middle half paid” is the range between the 25th and 75th percentile, so a quarter of families paid less and a quarter paid more.

What that means for a month
Most lessons we arrange are 1.5 hours long. At the median of S$40 an hour, one lesson a week comes to about S$260 a month (1.5 hours, 52 weeks a year, spread over 12 months).
Trials that became regular lessons
Of the 182 families who had a trial lesson with a tutor we matched, 142 (78%) continued with regular lessons with that tutor.
How we worked this out
- Source: our own client records, every family who had a trial lesson with a tutor we matched between 10 January 2026 and 26 September 2026. Test records are left out.
- The rate is the hourly fee the family agreed to pay, including our fee. Rates below S$15 or above S$250 an hour are treated as data-entry errors and left out.
- Levels are grouped from the level recorded for each child. International school grades are mapped to the matching Singapore level.
- Any group with fewer than 8 placements is not shown, so no figure rests on a handful of families.
