DSA
Direct School Admission
Direct School Admission (DSA) is a Singapore admissions pathway that lets P6 / Sec 4 students apply to secondary schools / JCs based on talents (sports, arts, leadership, academic) before national-exam results are released.

In context
DSA-Sec admits up to 20% of the next year's Sec 1 cohort at participating schools. DSA-JC admits up to 20% of JC1. Students apply in May and June with a portfolio + auditions / trials / interviews. Offers are confirmed before PSLE or SEC results. A confirmed DSA-Sec place still depends on the PSLE score qualifying for the course the school offers.
Who can apply for DSA?
DSA-Sec is for Primary 6 students applying to secondary schools. The DSA for junior colleges is for students in their final secondary year, applying before their national exam results. Each school sets its own talent areas, such as a sport, an arts form, leadership or an academic strength, and decides how to select.
What happens after an application?
Schools shortlist applicants and invite them to trials, auditions, interviews or selection tests. Students who receive offers then choose which school to put down. A student who accepts a confirmed DSA-Sec offer is allocated that school as long as the PSLE score qualifies for the course, and does not take part in the usual Secondary 1 posting choices.
Should my child try DSA?
DSA suits a child with a real, sustained talent who would be happy in that school's programme for four or more years. It is a commitment: a child who accepts a place generally cannot transfer out in Sec 1 for a better PSLE result. Our full guide covers how to prepare a portfolio and what schools look for.
