A-Level Rank Points (RP) Calculator
Work out your rank points (RP), formally the University Admission Score (UAS), out of 70. This is the 70 RP system that applies to 2026 university admissions, where Project Work no longer counts.

How the 2026 UAS works
From the 2026 admissions cycle, the University Admission Score is calculated out of 70 rather than 90. The base computation is your three best H2 content subjects plus H1 General Paper. H2 subjects are worth up to 20 points each; H1 subjects, including General Paper, are worth half that. Project Work has been removed from the computation entirely.
| Grade | H2 points | H1 points |
|---|---|---|
| A | 20 | 10 |
| B | 17.5 | 8.75 |
| C | 15 | 7.5 |
| D | 12.5 | 6.25 |
| E | 10 | 5 |
| S | 5 | 2.5 |
| U | 0 | 0 |
A 4th content subject or H1 Mother Tongue is folded in by MOE only when it improves the final score. This calculator reports the base UAS so the figure is always accurate; for a full projection that accounts for an additional subject, the official computation is the definitive reference.
Worked example
A student scores A in H2 Mathematics (20), B in H2 Chemistry (17.5), A in H2 Physics (20) and C in H1 General Paper (7.5). Their rank points are 20 + 17.5 + 20 + 7.5 = 65 RP out of 70. Under the old 90-point system the same grades would have read differently, so always check which system a published cut-off refers to when comparing against older admission data.
Frequently asked questions
What is an RP calculator, and is this a 70 RP calculator?
RP is short for rank points, the score universities use for A-Level admissions. An RP calculator converts your H2 and H1 grades into that score. This is a 70 RP calculator: it uses the revised system for 2026 admissions where the maximum is 70 points (three H2 subjects plus H1 General Paper), replacing the old 90 RP maximum that included Project Work.
What is a good rank points (RP) score?
It depends on the course. Medicine, Dentistry and Law at NUS and NTU typically demand a near-maximum RP around 68 to 70. Competitive courses like Computer Science commonly sit in the mid-to-high 60s, while many Arts, Science and Engineering courses admit in the high 50s to low 60s. The indicative grade profiles published by each university are the reliable reference for the course you want.
How is the A-Level UAS calculated for 2026?
Under the revised system for 2026 university admissions, the University Admission Score is the sum of the points from your three H2 content subjects (up to 20 each) and H1 General Paper (up to 10), for a maximum of 70. Project Work no longer counts.
What is the maximum A-Level rank points score?
The maximum UAS is 70, three H2 subjects at grade A (20 points each) plus an A in H1 General Paper (10 points). The previous system had a maximum of 90 and included Project Work; that changed for AY2026 admissions onward.
Does Project Work still count towards the UAS?
No. From the 2026 admissions cycle, Project Work is treated as a pass/fail subject and is no longer part of the UAS computation.
What happens to a 4th content subject or H1 Mother Tongue?
MOE includes a 4th content subject or H1 Mother Tongue in the UAS only if doing so improves the score. Because the exact treatment is best confirmed against the official computation, this calculator shows the base UAS from your three H2 subjects and General Paper.
How are H1 and H2 grades converted to rank points?
H2 subjects: A=20, B=17.5, C=15, D=12.5, E=10, S=5, U=0. H1 subjects, including General Paper, carry half the points: A=10, B=8.75, C=7.5, D=6.25, E=5, S=2.5, U=0.
